Well that makes more sense, except for the fact that no true ninja would ever allow himself to be assassinated and would kill himself first.
You're assuming the 'true' ninja thinks the person trying to kill him will actually be able to kill him. People who commit seppuku have given up the fight. Plus, that's samurai stuff not ninja, right?
Dang, this movie sucked. I'm a huge Rain fan (no homo) but the non comical scenes were comical. The CG blood was bad although it may have been made like that on purpose, kinda like 300 but 300 was shot to look animated. The action was alright but it seemed repetitive and most of the time it was too dark to see what was going on. To sum it up it was similar to a power rangers movie. You know the good guys will somehow come out on top, which kills every fighting scene in the movie. Every fight starts with several E-Z puddies (other ninjas), doing damage to the Raizo but ultimately, no matter how much damage they do, he is able to heal (literal in this movie) and kick everyone's ass. English with ancient Asian accents is just bad. The overall feel of the film would have benefited if it was subtitled from Japanese. Ninja's felt like zombies. Whenever the "bad" ninjas showed up, they started whispering murmurs, it was stupid. I feel bad for Rain because the directors are world famous and he'd be stupid to pass up this opportunity but it was a bad movie for his U.S. debut.
I thought it was r****ded but at the same time there was enough sweet ninja stuff to keep me entertained. In other words if you have any interest in seeing this movie it's exactly what you'd expect it to be.
This is balls to wall action movie here folks.. The kind of movie you watch at an urban theater with gangbangers and baby mamas talking throughout the whole movie.. Brings back the good old days of old school kung fu chop socky flix on 42nd street..

Mindless action/kung-fu film. It serves its purpose well. If you're looking for plot and realism, look elsewhere.
just rented this movie..... Awesome Ninja Action. If you're looking for deep meaning and touching dialogues, up in the air is great. If want to feel your blood rush and have moments where you yell "oh Sh--" for a hour and a half, this is the movie for you.
Going to buy the Blu-Ray today, only way to go. It came down to a Scola swingman or Ninja Assassin...Ninja won out for now.
Um, there's dude split in half by a blade on a chain. There's super fast ninja action. Is it cause it's weak plot? Who cares about plot in an action movie? And before you start talking about the Dark knight, that was an amazing movie with action, but not an action movie. If you have more than 5 minutes with out people fighting or stuff being blown up, it's not an action movie. Just like quantum solace is a great movie but not really a bond movie. What about it that made you think it sucked?
Just watched it....AWESOME Tons of action and gets straight to the point. It doesn't pretend to be something it isn't, mindless entertainment RULES!!! 7/10
