I gotta give it up for one of the funniest, most underrated sitcoms ever. Sharp writing wonderfully mixed with edgy visual gags. There was some decent acting, too. John Larroquette actually had to ask the Emmys to not nominate him any more after winning four straight emmys for best supporting actor. Harry, Dan, Christine, Bull, Roz, and Mac were one of the best sitcom casts ever. The best part was that the entire cast was adults, so they didn't have to worry about toning down the humor. Plus, there was no dreaded "cute kids not being cute anymore" syndrome that sitcom writers often encounter. One of the best final episodes for a sitcom, also... My main point, though, is to ask where the hell are the Night Court reruns? They used to be on TV quite a bit, but now they're non-existent. You can find Seinfeld and Friends reruns any time of the day, but damnit if Night Court gets any run. Looks like Nick at Night is my only hope...
I thought this was goign to be about finding a Night Court to play ball on. I've never heard of it. (the show)
Agreed. Plus that Markey Post was a hottie...in an eighties kind of way. Wasn't that show a spinoff of some other show? Great theme song too!
You're right, I used to watch reruns all the time but I can't remember seeing them anywhere as of late....
Night Court is the bomb diggity. Maybe I'm too young or maybe I'm just r****ded, but I remember my dad used to let me stay up "late" for that show sometimes... It rocked hardcore.
Night Court! What a great, great show! I know at one time that A&E was showing the episodes like twice a day, once around 1 in the afternoon and also like at 5 or 6, but I have no idea if that is still the case. Yea, Markie Post was a major-league hottie. I always liked the episodes in which they had to go through an impossible number of cases before midnight. One of those had a guy who came at the end of the docket and had "Tortoise Nervosa"! Another classic one is the one in which Bull goes on the gameshow, "What Am I?" (I am pond scum? Yes, you ARE!!!). All the lines in that one are classic but the best is at the end where Dan goes up to Bull (long story why he said this) and says, "Bull, I want to be YOUR love slave!"
I remember that one. That's the one with a guest appearance by Wiley Coyote. "Don't mess with that poor bird anymore!"
I do remember watching it sometimes when I was a kid. I remember the bald dude was cool. just wait until DBC gets a hold of this thread...
When I was a kid growing up overseas my mother had a good friend in the states who would send us video tapes with all the sitcoms on it and we always loved Night Court. I learned all about pimpin from John Larroquette and I am deeply indebted to the writers of that show for my weekly threesomes in the Marriot hot tub. But I still don't have Dan's convertable to maximize pimping ability. We also used to get alot of Falcon Crest which was a fun show when you are stranded in East Africa and of course Dallas.
I used to love that show! You're right; that was a great cast. Haven't seen it in a while. I should look around for reruns and see how much I like it now that it's not the Eighties and I'm not twelve years old. Somehow I think it will be just as funny anyway.
Markie Post was not bad at all! Ima drummer- I'm not sure but I don't think night court was a spin off. I believe Harry did some guest shots on Cheers, but he was a thief, not a judge.
Night Court is the greatest sitcom of all time imo. I especially loved the hillbillies..the Wheelers(Brent Spiner from Star Trek), and John Astin's cameos always made me die laughing. The relationships between Bull and all of the ladies(Selma, Flo and Roz) that were the other baliffs were priceless The lechery of Dan was always funny as hell.. and of course... I lusted after Christine sooo bad!..
Dang, you must be up late. I thought it was on Nick @ Nite or TV Land at around 3 or 4 in the morning. I watch it every-so-often... good show.
ahh, night court, one of my favorite shows. that and newsradio desperately need to get on wb or something. nobody shows them. they can take off suddenly susan, do people actually like that crap? head of the class comes on nick at nite at like 4 a.m.
This is so weird. I looked up Richard Moll (Bull on Night Court) just 2 or 3 days ago and he was still alive. I was saying how he looked good for being in his 80's. Just found out he died a couple of days ago. Night Court is still one of my favorite shows of all time. R.I.P. big fella ... pretty much all the major members of the cast are gone now except maybe John Larroquette?
This made me sad. Great sitcom full of great characters, and he was the was the most memorable of them all
