If you do not have any kids that are five or younger, stop reading. This (probably) has nothing to do with you. :)

Has anyone (or more specifically anyone's kids) caught the new show on Nick Jr. called 'Yo Gabba Gabba'? I was a little put off by it at first glance but when I sat down with my kids (who are mesmerized by it) and paid a closer look, I found out that it's pretty cool. It seems to be created by some guys who are in their mid-30's and have kids. They wanted something hip and different for kids to watch. There's a ton of singing...but not Wiggles-type singing. It's usually some sort of retro-80's style punk/rock/new wave music. The show's host is DJ David Rock (pictured) and he struts around with this giant boombox. Biz Markie has been a guest several times on the show. Pretty cool old school stuff for kids! :)

I've noticed Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO) on the show a few times and the music is very much in tune with Devo-ish melodies from the early 80s...I like the old-school video game intrerludes...

Much better than the Wiggles....agh....thank god!!

Ima check my local listings. Right now me and the little man watch Wiggs and Sesame religiously I don't mind them, but this looks dope.

Funny, I had a conversation with my wife yesterday. I told her that our 2 year old daughter is not to watch Yo Gabba Gabba any longer. Something about it I just don't like, and I won't watch anymore of it to figure out what that is exactly.

I'm a big supporter of Jacks Music Show, Dora, Blue's Clues and SStreet. That's plenty (way too much) tv right there.

YGG creeps me out. Their songs are very repetitive, but I guess it works because my son has become very effecient at cleaning up around the house. If I can only get him to stop singing that "clean it up clean it up pick up the trash now" song I would be cool.

Yeah, I don't think we'll be watching it either. My 7-year-old is too old for it now.

And I hate Sesame Street. It was cool growing up, but the "politically correctness" of it has gotten out of hand and it's just not fun to watch any more.

You must not remember it growing up. It's always been a enclave of hippie rainbow fruitflavored diVersity. Friggin' hipster college boys, with their Ernies and Alphabets!

Jack's Big Music Show rules. We've got a 1 1/2 year old and she loves JBMS. She also likes Blues Clues, Backyardigans, and Signing Time (on PBS).

Jack's BMS is her favorite though. She'll bring the remote to us and start clapping her hands because that's what they do at the beginning of the show. We've had to cut her off TV though so, she hasn't been able to watch as much.

My kids love Yo Gabba Gabba and have recently found Hip Hop Harry and love that show as well. Never too young to get your kids started learning rap.

    Do The Harry!
