Probably they claim that they blew the whistle, which is stupid. When any doubt let it play out then call it back if you need to.
Agree on the second point but in general, you can't advance muffed punts, which is weird. It should be treated like any other fumble IMO. I'm gonna guess it's because the player doesn't have "full possession" of the ball.
They'll find a way to choke. It'll be hard because Trevor Siemian has come back down to earth, but never underestimate the Chargers' ability to choke a game away.
