The talk on sports radio has been that the Rockets will unveil new uniforms before moving into the new arena in 2003. I wish they'd do it sooner. I don't know how many of you saw, but the Pistons are going back to their old uniforms. The fans demanded they return to the old colors. The team responded. Not sure why a team would give up the red, white, and blue colors for teal and orange in the first place!!! Someone in the Pistons' management (i don't remember who now) said that this was an effort towards getting back to the things that surrounded that franchise when it was great. Having said that..I'd LOVE to see the Rockets return to their old uniforms and colors. The pajamas they wear now are a disgrace! I would also like to see a logo change..they don't necessarily have to go back to the old logo...but something a little less kindergartenish would be nice. Jerry Seinfeld joked that since players are traded and move through free agency so much, ultimately it's the uniform we're rooting for. This franchise has a ton of good history..it's been one of the better NBA franchises. I would love to see them build on that history...and not bury it in dark blue and pinstripes. What do you think??? Anyone else interested in pushing the Rocks towards having red as their dominate color when they make the change?? How about mixing in some yellow for old times sake!?? How about a new logo..maybe the old one with some modern touchups?? Something...anything!!! More closely resembling the team depicted in those championship banners that hang from the ceiling would be a good thing! ------------------
dont know...i kinda like their PJ's ------------------ __ Ñ _ _ _ /_ ______ _ \ ÝÝÝÝl____| * |___ lÝÝÝÝ ¡,.-ñý¯Ç ¡,.-ñ~ñ~ñ-.,¡ `¯ýñ-.,
has this been overdone, Dr??? have you guys talked this to death already, and I missed it?? ------------------
Just do a search for "uni" in this forum and hope your browser doesn't explode. Oh wait... that's if you do a search for "Webber"... ------------------ "Yes, it's true. I agree with super I think the old uniforms where to plain. I did not like theses uniforms the first month or two they played in them. But since then I have loved them. There completely original from any other team in the league. Besides I can't imagine Steve, Cuttino, or any of the other new rockets in little red shorts with half there ass sticking out. ------------------ Agent
Agent -- I'm not saying they have to be exactly like the old unis..certainly don't want the nuthuggers back!!! But going back to the old colors would be nice...or at least colors where red is dominant. Rocket Red works...Rocket Blue doesn't feel the same. Maybe it's because I grew up watching this team...maybe I'm older than you. But if those unis are too boring...these unis they have now are just way too much!! At least the Raptors got the logo off the chest..that would be a welcome start! But having the logo with pinstrips is just too much. Oh..and this just in..the players HATE them!!! Every comment you hear about these uniforms from players is bad. If they're not the worst unis in the league, I'm not sure what is! ------------------
Personally, I like the Rockets uniforms just as they are right now. The old uniforms were awesome, but why change them back to the past? This team is already done rebuilding. Why not move forward, like the team, and make a different uni than the current and old one? Just a thought.. Cod ------------------ The Number One Cuttino Mobley Fan! Don't hate..Congratulate! I'll say it one more time: I'M NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD GO BACK TO THE OLD UNIFORMS ENTIRELY...MERELY THAT THEY MIGHT HONOR THE BETTER YEARS OF THIS FRANCHISE AND ITS HISTORY, BY GOING BACK TO A COLOR SCHEME WHEREIN RED IS THE DOMINANT COLOR. At the same time, I think it's time for a logo change. The design they have now truly looks like it was put together by some yoo hoo Rocket fan. Turns out, it was!! It was a contest winner! Great. The Pistons have gone back to their old unis and old colors. They have kept an updated logo, however. Some mixing and matching of the past and the future is fine. I just think what we have now is silly. I think Rocket fans are about the only ones in the country who like it...and that's simply because it's how we identify the team we love. I'd rather see all the seats in the new arena be red...the jerseys be red...and at least some resemblance to the championship banners. ------------------
I'm with you,MadMax. I miss those old colors.I watched the Rockets in those unis for 15 years, and still when I think of the Rockets I think of the red and gold. They had such a rich tradition. 4 final appearances and 2 championships, etc. Yeah, they're werent' the most exciting, but so what. Boston's uniforms are probably worse, but to me, tradition is more important than alot of colors and flash. I would like to see those old unis or at least the same colors w/slight modifications just to give them some spunk. ------------------
Exactly..I think the Pistons are really on to something. This throwback to their old colors and uniforms, while creating a new, updated logo, is sort of a tribute to the franchise itself. Notice how the premier teams don't change colors and logos and jerseys?? Tell me the next time the Knicks, Yankees, Lakers, Celtics, Red Sox, Giants, or Dodgers change their unis. They won't! They have a commitment to the pride that their fans have in their teams. They don't change as tastes change, only to have turn around and change again as their new look falls out of fashion. They're classic. And I would much rather have the Rocks mentioned amongst those franchises than the Raptors and others who appear to be marketing primarily to the middle school segment of the market. An adult male wearing a Rocket jersey around town just looks flat out silly. No offense if you happen to be one of those...but those things are just kiddy looking. ------------------
I don't think they'll be going back to gold, but red has always been a part of the color scheme. It could be more dominant in future designs but who knows. I asked a while back and got the "we have no plans at this time..." blah blah blah. If I were to make an educated guess, I'd say that it is probable rather than possible that the Rockets will make a uni change when they move into the new arena. As to the colors, who the hell knows. ------------------ How the hell should I know why God would allow the Holocaust. I guess the only thing the Rockets' would do about a uniform change before the move to the downtown arena would be removing the pinstripes, or something minor. Keep in mind, when you change uniforms (God we should have done this the first year we were jinxed by these uniforms!) you also have to change the whole organization with the uniforms. In other words EXPENSIVE! We'd have to have Paul Allen or Mark Cuban as an owner to accommodate us. Maybe they'll give us an NBA grant to change our uniforms out of pity!? ------------------
If this is true, it is ONE OF THE GREATEST THINGS to happen to the Rockets in the past five years along with the acquisitions of Francis (and hopefully Griffin). I have always supported the red and yellow, as these are the TRUE COLORS of this organization. All we may need is to tweak up the old logo to make it a little more "edgier" and modern. But the GODDAM PINSTRIPES GOTTA GO., as does the blue, who the hell changes team colors just like that?! Where I come from that is considered a travesty. Definately the WORST DECISION made by the Rockets apart from Scottie Pippen. SO, PLEASE CHANGE THE COLORS BACK TO RED AND YELLOW AND GIVE US A TRADITIONAL YET REINVIGORATED ROCKETS LOGO TO MAKE US PROUD AND REPRESENT THE STRING OF CHAMPIONSHIPS WE WILL ENJOY IN THE YEARS TO COME. ------------------ Mr. President. No man thinks more highly than I of three legged cows. They deserve to live. On my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of reason. Cows with three legs are good. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth : three-legged cows are better. They are better because the meat on them is better. The steaks are more tender. Three-legged cows tend not to wander as much. These cows could be the symbol of our country. The world would look upon us with great respect. They will want our cows and pay good money for them. The cows could symbolize freedom and hard work and three legs are better than four. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other.
We should BRING BACK THE YELLOW AND LOSE THE BLUE. The colors one see's when a rocket is launched are usually the colors of FIRE which are best represented by RED AND YELLOW. ------------------ Mr. President. I see no reason not to changge the uniforms and logo when they move to the new arena. It's a new start and there are already going to be the expenses of switching evcerything over, why not do it then? The Astros had some of the coolest unis in baseball, and were relatively new (4 or 5 years) when they made the switch with their new stadium. I agree with MAdMax that the uniforms should focus more on the Red of yesteryear. But the logo should NOT return. In all of my years as a Rocket fan, that was the one thing that I always hated. The most god-awful bland logo in the history of sports. I was embarassed by it. And it was not "classicly understated." It was just horribly unimaginative dreck. Bring on the new uniforms! And I'll see you all when this thread's clone pops up again next week. ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
Did any of you guys ever see what the artist first rendition of the new logo? It was basically the same idea except he kept the old red and gold colors and the rocket had no teeth. I thought that would of been cool. I think the guy ended up suing the Rockets or something for changing the colors and the rocket. I wished I would have known about the contest. ------------------ www.hooptops.com
I like the Fakers kind of brand of jersey in red and with the same flinstone rock logo will be nice. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
