the perfect PG solution has not been found yet. either we like the player but hate the contract because its too long (snow), too short (AD), too rich for our blood (every FA on the market), or we are not interested in the player willing to sign for cheap. so why force the issue? if we cant find a PG,then move on. our biggest problem are the fat contract held by mo and spoon. those cap cloggers are what is holding us back from finding the PG and extra PF/C that we want. those positions don't come cheap. i suggest that the first thing we need to do is find takers for mo and spoon. take on ending contracts or trade exceptions. that would move us to about the salary cap. in a perfect world we would be able to move both of them in the same off season. if we were able to move at least one this summer, it would allow us to be more flexible when looking to add pieces next summer. unless CD is a genious, or we get really lucky, i don't think we will be able to get anything really good untill we free up those road blocks.
I don't think what you suggested is a new strategy. They would do that in a heart beat but you have to find someone to make the trade with. CD and Isaih have been trying to these two PF since the beginning of last year. At least we don't have Mooch any more. That is why I don't have a problem with Spoon. Plus we won't be able to move spoon under any circumstances THERE ARE NO TAKERS. We might be able to trade Taylor or Howard and we would have to include an asset in any deal and our young promissing player like Gaines or Boki are also flops. We need to concentrate on getting talent not getting cap space.
Trade MoT or Spoon, why didn't anyone thing of that before? The hard part isn't deciding whether to trade these guys, it is finding someone to take on these guys. MoT- Huge contract, doesn't play D, doesn't rebound, solid scorer. Spoon- Big contract, doesn't play D, doesn't rebound, doesn't really do anything. And is old, real old.
