We suspect that we will get a glimpse at the Toyota Center test drive on September 13.

I suspect it will be between the dates of Sept 4th (arena ribbion cutting ceremony) and Sept 13 (Arena Open House), but obviously not on Sept 11th for obvious reasons.

From a marketing standpoint, holding the unveiling for the logo's and uniform's would perefctly suited between these dates (4th-13th) because of the spotlight (....or novelty effect) Toyota Center will have on the team. With an opportunity like this to realy create a "buzz" amongst Rocket fans, you have to capitalize on it.

So, after looking at the calander, I would have to say Sept 9th as the best day for the unveiling. You cant do it on the weekend cause too much is going on during the weekend. Everyone will most likely be doing something as they normaly do on the weekend, like partying and clubing. This includes Friday. With these types of gigs, you have to have it during the middle of the week, when our attention span is probably greater. Tuesday is porbably the best day because people hate Monday's after the weekend. Monday is used as a day to recover from the weekend you had. By Tuesday, were all refreshed and back to the daily grind of life. You cant do it on Wednesday the 10th cause its too close to Spet 11th. Thursday the 11th is automaticly out for obvious reasons. Besides, by Thursday were ready to get this week over and on Friday, were all cheering TGIF!

So Tuesday, Sept. 9th 2003 is the day I guess the event will be held on.

Am I right on this Tim...........do I have you figured out yet?

Tim already said unis would not be available for purchase at the time of the Toyota Center Test Drive.
    Only hats and shirts.
He said the store would be in full swing by pre-season.
    :(

Maybe this has nothing to do with the actual unveiling, but if I were to uinveil them I would want to make sure people could buy them on site since they had to wait this long.

Tim has said that the new uniforms will NOT be unveiled until they have them "in hand". That currently they are being produced by Reebok since the fabric they are made from has never been produced in the color of the Rockets jerseys. So because of this, it is taking some time. From the things I have read from Tim in the past I get the feeling that we won't see the new uniforms until probably a week before training camp starts. That would be around Sept 22nd.

My guess is that that is the right time for the uniform unveiling since it is something that jazzes up the fans right before training camp.

Right now I am sure the city of Houston is all jazzed up for the Houston Texans. I would think the Rockets would want to wait a few weeks, distance themselves from that, before they begin their heavy marketing push.

Nevertheless, they right now are held hostage to the fact that they don't have them yet and thus even if they wanted to they could not release the uniform info, and they are not going to release the info until they can show them off in person versus some linear art.

Unless the fabric is some new sepcial material that can make the Rockets backcourt play better defense, I don't understand why it should take so long. They've had to have the final desing for a month or so now.

I think Reebok is using 90 year old blind people to sew the jerseys by hand. Why else would it take this freakin long?

Okay, I have brought this up before as tigereye and I have jointly agreed upon the 9th.

If the 'test drive' of the new arena is the 13th, there will be various Rockets representatives there of course.

I use Clutch (the Bear) as an example. He is advertised as being there on the 13th. Obviously he wouldn't be wearing the old clothes, and he has to be wearing at least the new colors. So chances are he will be wearing the new uniform.

Of course I could see how, via shipping issues, the new uniforms wouldn't be released (as in for sale) to the public before or on the 13th.

Well, I can promise every single one of you that the new uniforms WILL BE RELEASED (maybe not for sale) by the 13th. I go back to Clutch; his uniform is obviously oversized, as in XXXXXL, so he WILL be wearing HIS jersey. It has to be the new one.

Also, after re-reading an article where Mr. Luis was commenting about the Taiwan leak, you can all be assured that there will be some sort of change to the uni. This being something below the shoulders as the di-stripes has be seen in various ads.

"It's not the final version of the uniform," said team spokesman Nelson Luis. "There are some similarities, but the one you see there is one or two generations away from what we expect for the final model."

It did seem a little plain.

I guess we will all see in a week.

    Exactly my point.

And like I said from a marketing standpoint, this is THE PERFECT time to unveil the uniforms simply becuase of the incredible spotlight that is put on the team due to TC's opening. The team hasn't made a BIG move all season to captivate the fans interest. This is a perfect way to captivate the fans interst, by combining TC's opening with the unveiling of the new logo and uniforms to make a big splash.

And besides, it has been mentioned that replica jersey's and other items bearing the team's new identity wont be available till October, coincidently when the new team store should be open.

I'm tellin you..........things are about to go down! :)

I heard that the dye for the new unis come from a sea urchin that lives in the Bearing Sea. The urchin is actually close to extinction so they are only going to make 12,000 or so jerseys available for opening day. Later in the season more should be available because they are trying to breed the urchin in captivity and depending on the success they have more jerseys should be available by the all-star break:p

I had it emailed to me by another member here, I can do the same. Emailing off of this bbs doesn't seem to work, so I'll have to get your address from you some way. If you're not comfortable posting it on here, just email me at my trash email, d_town333@yahoo.com and I'll respond with it.

The stripes on the side of the shorts are very "Star Trekkish" as someone posted earlier said they would be.

I was listening to the Marc Vandermeer showing during the 10:00 hour, and James in Alief called him, and asked David Dalati about the uniform.

David said that he already has seen the jersey, on a computer, not the actual jersey yet.

He said it had blue in it.

I don't know if I misheard him, but that is what I thought he said.
