We have been experiencing trouble with our phone line and finally have it narrowed down to our actual cordless phone. The phone is about 10 years old and needs replacing. Since it has obviously been 10 years since I shopped for phones, I need recommendations. Features I know I want; Call waiting caller i.d., at least 2 handsets, and it has to have a digital answering machine. Suggestions for models or other features to look for will be appreciated.
I have a v-tech phone system. $75 4 corldless phones and you only need one jack speakerphone all the basic features intercom best part is that if you pick up a call from one of the phones you can transfer it to another phone.. you can get it at any Sams Club location oh and yeah it has voicemail
Wow I haven't had one of those in years! Been living with only a cell for a while now. Anyways, sorry for this useless post. Just thought I'd share.
I got a pretty good deal on Motorola, 3 cordless phone, speakerphone on each phone, voicemail, etc.. for $75 through Office Depot.com. It was originally $129 or something, but was on sale. Nowadays, I see the same phone advertised at Frys for $75 regular price.
What is this 'house phone' you speak of? I heard tell by my grandpappy that it went the way of the milkman and ice delivery. Of course, he could have been making it up; grandpappy is always spinnin' yarns.
I believe it's actually better to get a phone w/ a lower frequency, say 900mhz over 2.4ghz. The signal from your phone to the receiver carries better and is more stable. Most newer phones seem to have higher frequencies though for some reason.
You have to go to a garage sale to get a 900 mhz cordless phone. Whatever you do, stay away from Radio Shack phones...they suck hard...
I agree. I got one a couple years ago when I still lived with the rents, and it died pretty quickly. Well it didn't really die, it just sucked and so I smashed it. I think my mum got one from Walmart or something. Either that or office depot. It had the Li-ion battery and it lasted for a couple of years. I recommend the white phones, they're good.
I don't understand the cellphone only argument, I cant stand the reception or sound quality of even the best cell phones.. I hate the idea that I could be on a very important call and the damn signal drop, I'll take a land line over a cell any day of the week.. For me cells are only used as a backup and never my go to phone, now my fiancé is the other way around, although she doesn't do any business on the phone.. I've had good luck with Uniden phones..
yeah, but if you have internet phone (vonage. etc.) you'll need a 2.4g hz phone or it will kill your internet everytime u use it
Call Waiting is not a phone feature. It is a phone service feature - something that you need to subscribe for through your telco.
Yeah I know, but Call waiting/Caller ID is a phone feature. It is where your caller ID shows up on a call waiting call. BTW it is also a subscription service through your provider.
when did they get phones in the golden triangle area? edit: insert bronx cheer smiley... just in case.
Actually I have this really long cable hooked into a house in Houston. I'm the only guy in my neighborhood with phone service right now . The neighbors like to come over at night and stare at my "talky machine". When it rings everyone goes nuts, and some of them have passed out from sheer fear.
