YES If you look at the middle of the flat SILVER halo of the roof in this pic, you will see an indention where the neon lighting will be placed. Also, expect red rings lighting around the scoreboard too......... See those red rings........ See the rings in between the info baord and the video board
Just catching up... The video board you see is it. They wanted a much bigger one but it was vetoed by the city. I still don't get how the city can allow a ferris wheel 25 feet from the Pierce Elevated but not a large animated video board at Polk and La Branch because it is dangerous to traffic. The first time a girl gets up in that ferris wheel and flashes traffic, there is going to be a major wreck. The irony is that the video board for the new arena is facing traffic that will be sitting at a stop light. The city has strongly enforced ordinances for downtown signage which is why none of the theatres, performance venues or Minute Maid have video boards. As for the lighted towers, I don't recall ever saying they would be lit. I was told they would be wrapped in the same type of fabric used for boat sails but no one said anything about lighting them.
I also don't see how the city allows billboards with numerous strippers, cows (chickfil-a), and gallery furniture blinding lights and they don't allow a simple video board. If the Texans can have a big board by the freeway (which is far more dangerous to drive on), why can't the Rockets have one in downtown? The fact that city council doesn't want Houston to look like "New York" or "Las Vegas" really pisses me off. Houston isn't looked at positively since we don't have that image... in fact, people's image of Houston is its hot, smoggy, and downtown is DEAD at night. Maybe if there were more brightly lit video boards and jumbotrons in the city, there would be less crime in dark DARK downtown... hell, at least get the streetlamps to work.... or did the city veto that as well?
One look at the pic above should tell you they will be lighten. That explain why they fade from white at the bottom to grey at the top. Because they will be lighten by a bank of lights embedded within the base of the tower. They bottom would be white and bright cause its close to the lights while the top would fade cause its far away from the lights. Take a look at all of the renderings that have the tower included in it...........including the Tundra Zone suite rendering that has the tower in the background. That one just adds fire to my beliefs. I'm tellin you, they must be lighten.
Those red rings on the scoreboard won't stay red. They are like a lot of small LEDs put together in a circle. Unless the only color available for emition is red, I would expect to see other colors than. It's not the Rockets arena. It's the Aeros as well as a probable future NHL franchise.
where and what are the lighted towers? and is the neon light around the stadium going to actually be red?
You see that big tall fading white to grey stick on the right of the scoreboard...........that's it. My beloved (hopefully lighten) Super Tower!
So the "rings of light" change color too, huh. Jeff, didnt you say in the past that this was going to be an colorful exploding scoreboard just like at AAA in Miami and at MMP? Are these colorful "Rings" part of that plan?
Is it going to have a video board that goes around through out the arena like most new arenas? example, pepsi center. the united center just added some. i forgot who else.
Its called an LED Ribbon Board. And yes Kam, it will have one. It will ring the entire building on the facade of the second level suites and end zone's upper deck. As for what style, I assume it will have continously moving animations like at Key Arena and NOT stills of company logos and socres like at Dallas and SA. Why I say that? Look at the pic. Ont the second level of the suites and the end zone's upper deck, you will see the ribbon board itself. And on the first deck, you will see tiny "mini in-game" scoreboards. That more than likely means that there will not be scores or stills of logos on the Ribbon at TC. So expect a continous animation advertisement like at Key Arena. And I am happy about that. I love those long continous animations for advertisements on the Ribbon. It looks brighter, cleaner and sharper then the ones crammed with every company logo in exsistance plus scores.
I sure hope all those homeless people remember to wear their hard hats. Wonder if JVG gave his away to hobo.....
any rules or regulations NBA has on teams and what kind of floors they are allowed to have? colors, logos, etc?
Yeah that would be a good ides but.................Red, White and Silver for our court? I'm not sure those colors would produce pretty good lookin court. Red has always looked good on the court, but too much red can be a bad thing. Then look at the teams that have silver on there court, Minne (see circle above paint), SA (See logo on court), NJ (see logo and funky trim in the sides of the paint)........silver just didnt look good on the NBA hard pine. And then White is mainly used to trim and lines on the court. With Red and Silver as our main colors, I just cant picture it
