    I haven't read anything, but I think Juwan is a positive influence for our team. He's a veteran, he's been with Tmac for a long time, he's Yao's buddy. At the same time, we know that guys are expendable. (Bye bye Reece Gaines, David Wesley, Jimmy Jackson, Eddie Griffin, Maurice Taylor, Kelvin Cato, Stevie, etc.)

    I think Juwan's been doing a good job off the bench for Hayes. Also, if someone were to get injured, we definitely need Juwan there..cuz of his experience here..

    I'm still confused about his little stealing incident though.

    Garbage how?

    Jason Collins is widely regarded by people in the league as a great post defender. That's why Rod Thorn gave him a nice contract-- 25 million dollars. One also just need to look at his stats to see that he's bad offensively and on the boards.

    Now what's wrong with what I said about Jason Collins?

    Explain it, back it up. Or were you just posting this for the sake of posting?

    He's been playing all his NBA games in that sorry ass division. Whom has he exactly defended man-to-man, with success? Even your own stats don't point in any way shape or form he is a player worth of the price he's been paid. You wouldn't mind getting him on the Rockets team? What value does he bring? Getting posterized by the big and powerful front-court players here in the Western Conference and Southwest Division? Jason Collins isn't even worth half of the likes of Erick Dampier, Caveman, etc, in talent and otherwise. A 50-year old Deke can school him easily in a real game.

    Methinks you are just bored.

    I dont think the rockets need any big adjustments right now. I think as long as Bonzi gets his act together, which it seems like he has, this team is set. They are winning game and close to the top of the west. I would wait until closer to the trade deadline to do anything.

    I agree with that 100%. Chemistry is a rare and fickle thing it is best to leave it alone if it is working well.

    Like him or not, Juwon has made important contributions to the team at critical junctures....and everybody is forgetting all the intangibles ... the glue ... he provides. ;)

    If that was the case then what sense does it make trying to add Bonzi to the equation? I think it's safe to say in a pefect world that Bonzi's contributions will be much more significant than Howard and his 3 out of 20 good games.

    woww there are soo many juwon howard haters...thats just ridiculous....he's actually playing some of his best basketball right now, he is rebounding and hustling for loose balls and is automatic with the mid range shot in which we dearly need. you guys reallyy are underestimating team chemistry....be careful what u ask for

    1. He does get to play games outside of the division. In fact, the majority of his games are against out of division opponents.

    2. He guarded Yao Ming pretty effectively, compared to other guys. He also always takes on the toughest post defensive assignment every game.

    3. His overall and defensive +/- numbers have been good pretty much his whole career.

    In August, 2005, Rosenbaum ranked him as the 4th best defensive center according to adjusted +/- numbers.

    4. Of course, if you are going to discredit all these and his reputation with people in the league(not just in the division). By saying "he plays in a weak division". Then I guess we can say similarly that Jason Kidd's triple doubles don't count, Vinc Carter and Paul Pierce actually suck ass. Because their division is bad.

    This is the classic long term vs. short term problem. We'd love to get rid of his contract in the long term, but we would be very short handed at PF in the short term. If management secretly feels we cannot win a championship this season, they should deal him.

    Where is your proof Howard hasn't given his best? He might not be able to give 20 and 10 anymore, but his skills and minutes have declined over the years, as has his role in the Rockets' offense. That doesn't mean he isn't giving his best while he's in the game.

    JVG wants rebounds and defense from Howard, points are a bonus.

    No, addition by subtraction is what happens when that dumba$$ Rumsfeld finally steps down. BTW, what the heck does "misunderestimate" mean?

    If the real Bonzi comes back and plays his heart out for us, I have no problem getting rid of Howard.

    You forgot Reggie Bush contributing to the rout of the Dullazz Cowboys on Sunday night...where John Madden says"Reggie Bush is exciting to watch" and Al Michaels responds " Yeah, unless you are a Houston Texans fan....you might be asking what did we do?" Ummm, last I checked the fans don't make the picks b/c otherwise we would have Reggie Bush or V. Young on the team. I really wanted Reggie Bush..that along with D. Ryans...you get offense and defense :eek:

    The majority of his games are played against EC teams. We all know what kind of quality teams of EC are.

    Yao's personal stats vs NJ were better than season average in 02-03 and again in 05-06, worse than seaon-average in 03-04 and 04-05. The conclusion that Collins guarded Yao Ming pretty effectively is hardly convincing.

    So does Eric Dampier. Advantage goes to Dampier since he plays in a tougher division/conference.

    Excuse me for not taking this massaged +/- **** seriously, reasons being:

    1) Despite having three players (Kidd, Collins, and Carter) on the same team that were ranked in the top-10 in that Rosenbaum Defensive Adjusted Plus/Minus Ratings in 04-05, NJ was ranked 19 out of 30 with a negative point differential, while playing in a weak division and weak conference;

    2) When we see a bunch of EC players like Collins, Cato, Haywood, and Nesterovic on the top-10 defensive center list but not Yao, we know something is seriously screwed up with the guy's methodology;

    3) 04-05 stats have little bearing in 06-07, plus, you yourself admitted Collins' number this season is worse than last season and his career average.

    Not exactly an apple-to-apple comparison. The stats produced by guys like Kidd, Carter, and Pierce are far more spectacular than those by scrubs like Collins, so even if we take into consideration the weak competition factor by "weighing" less their numbers, Kidd, Carter, and Pierce still stand tall -- much taller than Collins.

    Look, Gundier, this is a Juwan love-hate thread and I don't want to derail it. You can say whatever you wish to say about merit of acquiring Jason Collins. The case against Collins is simply overwhelming.

    If Juwan can keep grabbing rebounds and play defense, great. But we can easily get another person to do that without having such a massive contract.
