Not by a lot? Both of them are primarily around the basket players, but Nene is a lot quicker with his moves, and thus scores significantly more frequently (more points per minute) and more efficiently. One thing I didn't notice until I looked it up just now: Perkins has a careeer turnover % of 23%. That's really really bad.
I agree, but i wouldnt count much of that until the last 4 yrs. Both perkins(hs player) and nene(19 yr old international) were pretty young coming in. I always feel like Nene should be alot better offensively than he is. I mean tool wise, he's strong, quick, long arms, and big hands, but i feel like something just dont get done. Nene should be an all star or at least in the conversation every year at center.
I agree with Nene seeming to underperform his tools. The thing is, Perkins is still terrible on turnovers the last 4 years (including 8 games this season): 22, 23, 20, and 24% for Turnover rate those years. Nene, no the other hand, has improved. After turning the ball over 18 or 19% every year for most of his career, during the last 3 years his turnover rate has lowered to 12 to 14% (and his shooting efficiency increased, too). Anyhow, Nene is much more efficient offensively, and scores more points, too. Overall, I'd go for Nene. It's just harder to find someone with his skill set.
What up Gater! Perkins rejected that offer. He's unrestricted and he wants to test the free agent market. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/27405266 So we should have a chance to sign him ...us and like 20 other teams.
UFA but C's could, would and will match offer and KP will stay with C's. Count on it, he is not going anywhere.
wth makes you think he would give us a hometown discount? were a mediocre team, hes been on a team that has made a push for a title the last several yrs. hes young, no reason to give any kind of discount here.
It'll be at least 20 teams. Not saying that he did or did not turn the offer down. But the amount can't be correct. The Celtics are limited to a 10.5% raise of Perkins' current $4.4M/year. IMO, reality is the $22M over 4. And he won't be coming to Texas except to visit friends and family. http://www.celticstown.com/2011/02/...was-actually-closer-to-four-years-22-million/
