What happened with them, anyway? Is this on Solich? Or is it just a down cycle for them?

I don't know. Is it recruiting? Their defense looks slow. Someone once said that NU rarely recruits well anyway though.

Oh great.....hopefully they're dumb enough not to hire Mike Stoops;)

And maybe if they recruited OUTSIDE of the state of Nebraska they would be a little better....

    Recruiting.

Nebraska used to recruit badasses all along the line, and top-notch athletes at RB and LB.

Throw in a decent athlete who's played the option all his life, handing the ball off to those dominating athletes, and you couldn't stop it.

They haven't recruited those guys under Solich.

Did you see the Nebraska kick returner uppercut the Aggie defender on the sidelines? He's lucky 1) he didn't get ejected and 2) he didn't get his ass beat.

I don't know if NU has ever recruited bad asses up front... I mean this, in the sense that they were like Rivals 2/3 star type players. NU relied a lot on their walk-on program (some controversy here, because of free in-state tuition type stuff) to churn out quality players. NU's weight training program is also famous for producing big, fast, and strong players.

You are right Puedl, about them recruiting guys who have played option since they were born.

How much of that lower ranking is because they couldn't pass-block though?
Nebraska's recruiting didn't look so hot, because they didn't recruit passing QB's and big play wideouts - which boost your ratings tremendously, perhaps disproportionately so - so they're rankings were depressed, but I'm fairly certain their offensive linemen were big-time run-blocking prospects.

Well, if they were big-time run-blocking prospects, I'm sure they would be 4-star type players. Unless, rankings are heavily slanted in favor of pass blocking OLs over run blocking OLs. Look at UT, most of their guys seem to be predominantly pass blocking OLs, and they are usually 4-star players.

IMO, the problem lies within the fact that defenses are just too fast around the corners, to consistently run the option.

Crap.....A&M is so unpredictable. They'll beat 1 of OU and Texas.

    I agree.

If A&M's defense had shown up today, they win.

I don't think their offense is anywhere near as bad as it was before the OC got demoted.

If the defense can come back, A&M is a top 25 caliber team.

The defense hasn't been there since the Va Tech game...48 points to TX Tech and 22 points to a TERRIBLE Kansas team. The defense is brain dead right now. I know they can play better...but it seems they are just going to mail it in.

The offense, on the other hand, has been very good.

Not if the defense can't stop the run. For some reason our defense has become inept against the run.

He simply just does not have the athletes to compete.

When compared to OU or UT, yes...

They have more talent than NU, yet dropped the ball last night.

Yeah it is, it's just older and more mature/experienced athletes.
