RT @PeteThamelNYT: BREAKING NEWS: We have on-record confirmation the NCAA is investigating the recruitment of Auburn QB Cameron Newton Also... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5765214
I wonder if Auburn is willing to sit him out until he gets cleared by the NCAA so if something is found later on they can't go back and take the wins. Auburn probably won't do it since they have a chance to go undefeated. I hope the NCAA does what it did to Dez Bryant, Marvin Austin, Greg Little and Robert Quinn if they find Newton did something against the rules.
I'm beyond ready for the big boys of college football (and basketball) to split off and form a faux minor league. Let the future pros get paid and have agents and skip the academic cheating. Let the student-athletes be student-athletes.
Please let us know when you're beyond-beyond-pigs-flying-out-of-your-arse-ready, and then wait another million years. Ain't happening.
About nothing important. He shouldn't even have to answer to them without a lawyer there. Its the equivalent of lying to your parents. Forfeit eligibility for a lie.
Yeah...he's pretty stupid. Tell them the truth...which was nothing illegal...and nothing happens. Lie to them about something harmless and see where it gets you. This wasn't on the NCAA. All Bryant had to do was tell the truth and nothing would have happened.
I don't expect a college kid to know that. He was probably scared. Should have had a lawyer handle everything. He shouldn't be put into a position to harm himself and the team for something meaningless.
He needs someone to tell him not to lie? Hopefully, his parents taught him that from the beginning. I sincerely doubt that he was sitting in that room with the NCAA by himself. I'm not saying the NCAA isn't a joke when it comes to these matters. But it's not like the players are innocent victims. If it's news to them that the can't get paid or accept extra benefits, then they are dumbasses.
I want a Auburn Oregon final. This is going to allow maybe a 1 loss Alabama team to hop Boise. Not good
