From what i understand 2 NBA teams will share a NBDL roster with each getting 6 spots. If a player is in the NBDL does that free up his NBA roster spot? with teams able to have up to 6 players in the development league that would only allow them 9 on the NBA team... does anyone have information from the CBA on how this works?
From what I read... Teams have the 12 active players and room for 3 inactive ones (instead of the injury list, it's an inactive list). Teams can send up to 2 players to the NBDL, but those 2 count as inactive players (so a team could only have one other inactive player).
Yes. You can have 15 players on the roster. Contracted players sent to the NBDL do count towards the 15. http://www.realgm.com/src_feature_a...argaining_agreement__–_principal_deal_points/ So in other words we can't stow away Head or Jay Williams for a year or two in the NBDL without taking up one of our 15 spots (12 active plus up to 3 inactive). It also shows why it is more useful for Spanoulis and Badiane to develop in Europe (where we keep their rights but don't sign them) rather than in the NDBL as part of our inactive roster right now. Given Baker, Mooch and Ward almost surely will take up our 3 inactive roster spots (unless Ward is wavied) any more guys we add to our roster has to be ready to play this year, not sit a develop in the NDBL. With those three plus Spoon and maybe James (4-5 total) all gone next season, we will have more flexibility to use the NDBL and take on flyers, but not this year.
