Have you checked out the NBADraft.net projections for 2002? These are based on recent standings. Here are the first 4 picks:

    1. Chicago -- Dajuan Wagner
    2. Miami -- Jason Williams
    3. Denver -- Yao Ming
    4. Houston -- Drew Gooden

The next 3 players picked are Mike Dunleavy, Chris Duhon, and Amare Stoudamire.

Do you like the pick of Gooden or would you want to pick up the SF, the PG, or the 4-5 in Stoudamire?

Or who else would you pick?

these picks are based on how good the player is and nothing to do with team needs..this is basically a ranking of prospets..With Eddie on the team, I don't know where Gooden would fit despite his enormous stock of talent. I see the Rockets going after Dunleavy or taking a chance on Marcus...

I think it is more than just ranking. It is the compilation of one guy's interpretation of opinions.

Case in point: Gonzaga's Dan Dickau is selected in the first round ahead of Teyshaun Prince, Carlos Boozer, Sam Clancy, and Vincent Yarborough among others.

And he is take WAY AHEAD of both Juan Dixon and Lonny Baxter who fall to the second round.

Is Dickau the best player out of Gonzaga since John Stockton?

Chris Marcus is not even in this draft forecast. Weird.

NBADraft.net's draft projections are horrible and not even representative of anything but a random lotto generator at this point.

I'd feel more secure in asking Peter Vecsey to do the draft projections right now.

I'd love to get Dunleavy, but I think it's 50/50 as to whether or not he stays.

If Eddie's a center, Gooden would make a good fit.

He's got good size, and has elevated his game to another level. He's averaging 20-12 on a top 5 team, which is absolutely sick. Great rebounder, high energy inside scorer, great intensity, and the type of flash that goes perfectly with Eddie's silent assassin attitude. If Eddie becomes a center, Griffin-Gooden back by Taylor and Cato could be a 4/5 rotation that lasts for years.

On Chris Marcus-his stock is falling. He's been very injury prone, as he has most of his college career, and has the type of body that is very injury prone, similar to why Gadzuric is low right now, who has bad knees.

Baxter and Clancy are undersized 4s with poor range, and Dixon is an undersized 2 not named Iverson. It'll even out.

I don't think Dunleavy will come out early-he has no reason to do so: He's got a stable family with money (dad is a former head coach), and is getting a major role with probably the best school in the nation.

From what I've heard, Stoudamire is basically relying on his physical tools right now, and can't score outside 5 ft. Major project by nearly all accounts.

Juan Dixon 44? He's one of the best guards in the nation. I thought he would be a favorite to go in the first round. But I'm not an expert so I wouldn't no. I don't really follow college basketball a lot.

I saw something about a poll somewhere of NBA scouts about Wagner at this point and the general thought is that he still has alot to prove to them as an NBA point guard prospect, and probably wouldn't go this high.

I.E. He was ranked as like the 5-6 best point guard prospect at this point.

Dixon may fall into the Respert/Childress/House syndrome. Fantastic college players w/o much pro potential. It is pretty rare for smaller guys to make SGs in the NBA (Dixon isn't as good as Jason Terry, let alone Iverson) and it seems it is pretty hard for most of those guys to transition to the 1. I like the guy, but he looks like 2nd round material to me.
