Francis had several years to 'get his', and the most points he could muster was around 22 per game. Yes, and it is quite unbelievable that a 52% shooting big man should get priority over a 39% shooting guard. Couple that with the fact that Yao gets more defensive attention than most players in the league, and thats why he gets smits-like numbers.
Francis gets his 4-5 turnovers every night, sometimes 7-8. Those are the only "his" Steve needs to worry about. All-Star game, Iverson 11 assists, Kidd 10 assists, Francis 4 assists. Same old crap.
first, i dont agree with yao being rick smiths. Francis and yao should get equal oppurtunities. But francis is a pg. He is not going to score 26 pts. If he moves to sg then maybe. But how can you think he will get 26 pts.
Iverson had 11 assists but shot 1-6 and had 4 turnovers. Kidd had 3 turnovers. Steve played a more balanced game than either of them. He shot well and turned over the ball less. He shot 6-9 good for 13 points, had 4 rebounds and 4 assists with only 1 turnover. Stop your hating! Stop posting the same old crap!
Wow ... I didn't remember Smits being that bad a rebounder for a man his size. The other piece of good news is that it took Smits SEVEN years to average over 16ppg, and Yao's already over that mark. Yao's career is clearly on a different trajectory than Smits.
Recently, Laker fans are saying that Shaq needs to drop the MDE label and insted start playing teamball! They say, "Enough of this trying to show Yao up because its making the team loose." I think that sounds familiar. Remember Francis when he used to "make it personal" with his guard opponents early this year?
Check this one out too.... Gheorghe Muresan - 7'7" 14.5ppg/9.6rpg was his best year... http://www.nba.com/playerfile/gheorghe_muresan/index.html
That should never be an excuse. If you are a specialist, and the opposition can neutralize you by doubling. Then you aren't that good in the first place. Yao must dominate even though he IS double-teamed. All the great ones did. They found a way. Either by scoring or finding the open-man.
What idiots...Yao is going to be one of the greats...He is just in his second year after getting robbed of the ROY last year...
Why the hell are we reading "THE" power rankings from unpopular and obviously biased King's website? Who cares?
Rockets fans: I'm the creator of this website (along with a buddy of mine) and what we think of the Rockets has nothing to do with just the Kings games they played against us. Overall I think everyone is impressed with the Rockets but I think they are underwhelming at this point. My own opinion concerning Yao is that yah, he's a good player, but no, he will never be great. Why isn't he averaging more minutes/rebounds/blocks? Until the man averages 12 boards and 3 blocks per game, he will never be considered great no matter how many opints he averages. As far as Steve Francis goes, anyone who claims he is having a good year this year is kidding themselves. The Rockets have no other consistent wing presence other than Yao. Sure, mobley and Jackson are decent, but nothing more. Francis SHOULD be averaging at a minimum 23 points per game on this team; that is my HONEST opinion. Anyway, we appreciate all the visits to the site overall. We realized today that Rockets fans are crazier for their team than are Kings fans. Meaning we have received over 300 hits on the website today JUST from you guys. And if you forgot our URL, here it is: WWW.KINGSPN.COM

Yao will NOT be a "Rik Smits!" He's gone from 8.2 to 9.0 in one year. But as Barkley said once, "You have to WANT the rebound! You have to believe that every ball that comes off the rim is YOURS!" Yao has to have that attitude. A lot of rebounding is technique and positioning. The rest is desire! .... Points were never his problem. Turnovers are. Lets wait and see.
First of all, none of your beloved kings average anywhere close to 12, and 3. Seems like you just pulled a number out of your ass and made it the measuring stick of greatness for some arbitrary reason. Funny how you completely ignore Yao's strengths and just put 2 numbers out there that hardly anyone can ever reach. What you didn't say is that Yao is individually a more effecient offensive player than any one of your kings. In his second year. I'd love to see how he did on a team full of shooters. Regarding Francis, once again you just pull out some high number from your ass. Francis never has averaged 23 points, not before the zone defense, and not before Yao. You expect JVG to come to town, place an emphasis on defense, slow down the tempo offensively, AND have Francis posting career best numbers during this transition? For some reason you just have incredibly unrealistic expectations for these players that you obviously don't follow or know anything about. It's amazing how a fan whose team chokes repeatedly in the playoffs can act so high and mighty regarding other teams. Go back where you came from and stop tainting our board with your garbage.
