That superbowl game was amazing...at the same time, yeah, basketball is a more exciting sport for me.

Problem with the NFL is that games take forever and by the end of the thing you've watched more commercials than the actual game it feels like. Often if the Texans are not playing then I simply don't really watch.

NFL is too reliant on great QBs, and there's only really 8-10 good ones...The NBA has 20-30 great players who can take over games, and then you have players like Tim Hardaway Jr, who can just randomly get hot and win a game by himself. Also 82 games allows you to experience a lot more, while 16 NFL games just isn't enough. I understand that they can't really play multiple times a week like in NBA or MLB, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

NBA, NCAA Football and NFL have all been my #1 sport over the past 10 years at some point. The NFL has fallen off the map for me over the past 3 years. NCAA Football's playoff hasn't been as amazing as I thought it would be. NBA has a strong hold of #1 for me right now, but I do miss the defense/post play.

I wonder if the result will be different if the survey was asked in an NFL forum (site) ?

There is a long thread in that forum about how much the NFL has started to suck.

Care to wager $100 and then compare the ratings, sales, etc?

NFL might be better, but basketball is better than football.

Basketball is best because you can play by yourself and it only takes one other person for a game.

Both MLB and NBA have the advantage of more games. NFL is the most popular though and the biggest spectacle..

Why the NFL will never be top spot on my list:
    http://supplementreviews.com/articles/entertainment/ball-in-play-for-a-total-of-387

TL;DR - There was 16 minutes and 4 seconds of actual ball in play time during the SB yesterday.

It's also why I grew out of being a huge baseball fan. So so so much downtime. And why I've become more of a soccer fan over the last 5 years or so.

But the NBA has the best of all worlds - constant action, lots of scoring.

Here's a question: Are there any other sports out there like the NBA in that regard? Where there is non-stop action and lots of points... soccer and hockey and the like obviously have the action part down, but there are so few scoring opportunities. I know the indoor soccer leagues tried to address that a bit, but never caught on hugely - imo just too big of a hurdle to try and draw fans from soccer already.

I watched a 20 minute recap of the Superbowl (including entertainment and presentation highlights), seems like I caught most of the action.

Also don't like the size of the NFL squads, and how everyone has a specialised role. 53 rostered players, 46 dressed on game day... When you're allowed 11 on the field... Talk about overkill.

I always laugh when he says "eggball Texans". It's like saying I root for the "basketball rockets"

This irks me entirely. Also, who are the super stars in the league. Seems like every entertaining person is neutered to a degree by Goodell and Co.

Yep, you watch more commercials than the game. Soccer is a better sport to watch for me too but it's pretty hard to get into it if you are American I feel like. If you told me 50 years from now the NFL would be pushed off to the side because of whatever reason and replaced by Soccer I would not care at all honestly.

They really need to do something about picking up the pace of the game.

I feel exactly the same way. I like watching soccer, but don't have the energy or time to follow EPL... then with the time change, games not always being live, etc. it just isn't as natural.

but in another world i could easily watch tons and tons of soccer and little to no NFL... like most of the rest of the world!
