Lock if already posted. "16. Houston (6) 53-29 Pace: 89.0 (19), Off: 109.9 (15), Def: 105.5 (4) Signing David Anderson will help cushion the blow of losing Yao Ming for the season, but not enough. The Rockets can use this year (and perhaps Tracy McGrady's expiring contract) to strengthen Yao's supporting cast while he strengthens his body. Criticizin' Team of the Summer: Houston (-10)"
according to that, we are 9th in the west. looks like theres its going to be a pretty interesting season to say the least
This a lot better than what i expected for the Rockets, Sadly ..........but i got to disagree with the New York over Memphis Part the ranking....I think New York will be the worst team this upcoming season.....
I think you forget that Isaiah isn't the coach anymore. No way D'antoni let's them be the worst team in the league. Bottom of the league yes, but not the worst.
9th in the west seems a bit optomistic for the national media to give us. I pretty much agree with the pre rank.
Yeah i actually i did forget until you just reminded me ......But I still do think they have a pretty weak line up
So techinically we are playoffs team albeit an 8th seed at best. Sure I'll take that any day and given that the Lakers are going to be the top seed again, I can live with that. Who knows we might even pull the huge upset.
Yeah i think we can take them by surprise again (2-3 games), b/c they didn't address their biggest(only) weakness this off season which was point guard position, but to actually beat them in a 7 game series is just asking to much of our young guys..... PS. i think this Power Ranking is seriously underestimating the other Team in LA, don't look now but the Clippers actually have a decent line up.... they might surprise some people...... Baron Davis/ Eric Gordon Rasual Butler Al Thorton Blake Griffin Marcus Camby/ DeAndre Jordan
Not a bad place for the Rockets, but the Mavs are too high. I'd easily put Denver & Portland ahead of them.
The Rockets are ranked well, It's not too high and not too low. I'd probably put them above the Suns, but it's a good argument for either side to determine who's better. So I'm fine with that. As for the other teams...... The Orlando Magic are way too high, No way are they better than the Spurs or Celtics especially if they are healthy. Not even close, they'd get soul-crushed. The Celtics especially would crush them like a hammer. Celtics should also be above the Cavs. And no way are the Raptors better than the Bulls. Just because they lost Ben Gordon doesn't mean a soft team like the Raptors are better. Not a chance in hell. Hedo Turkoglu may be a helpful offensive player for them, but who the hell is going to defend for them? Denver? Yes, Portland? Nah, not for me. The Mavericks swept the Blazers 3-0 in the regular season last season. Not to mention, Mavericks got to add Shawn Marion while the Blazers added Andre Miller? As good of a player as Miller may be, I don't think he's a good fit alongside B-Roy or the Blazers since they play such a slow pace.
this is based on pure speculation, they mean nothing until the games begin, for all we know we could mesh really well together and be beastly, or fall apart, personally i think we still have enough talent to make the playoffs, to beat the lakers? fat chance, but like rudy t said, NEVER underestimate the heart of a champion
Portland is another year older, and now has playoff experience. They already finished ahead of Dallas last season. Marion hasn't been anything special outside of Phoenix. He'll add some rebounding, and maybe Jason Kidd will help, but I don't see him as much of an upgrade. The Mavs are also a very thin team, and their best players are on the wrong side of 30. My guess is the Mavs will win less than 50 games this year.
