according to a nba.com survey thingy.. they compiled stats for all players in the 1990s (i.e. points, games played, rebounds.. etc.) and guess who appeared in the top 10 in every significant category? Not Jordan. Pippen? Haha. Karla.. oops.. wrong again.. Mr. Akeem himself.. This is their little blurb about him.. so ya'll who are doggin Hakeem... show some respect for the man please. [IMG]

Olajuwon holds the distinction of appearing in the top 10 in all five of the categories in which he appeared. Listed at seven-feet but is closer to 6-10 and with the balletic moves of the smoothest small forward, Olajuwon was second in blocks, fourth in rebounds, seventh in points, eighth in steals and 10th in minutes. His high standing in minutes is exceptionally significant since he missed large portions of the 1990-91 and 1997-98 seasons with injuries.

    Second in blocks?? Who's first?
And does anybody have any clue how close the second best all-time shotblocker is to surpassing Hakeem?

David Robinson leads with 2,325 blocks to Hakeem's 2,287.

I believe Mutumbo is the biggest threat to pass Hakeem in blocks. According to my calculations he would have to average 4 blocks a game for the next 4 years to do it. Since he's pretty old already, i doubt Dikembe could do it.

Those stats prove the Dream is the most versital big man in history. Year in and year out we saw Hakeem in the top ten in scoring, rebounding, shot blocking and stealing. Not even Jordan had that kind of doninating versitility.

Combine the Dreams gazelle like moves with the fact that he had the strength to battle in the low post with the strongest centers in the league. But few of those big powerfull centers had the agility or quickness to keep up with Hakeem. No other center in the History of the game had the compined strength of a bear and the speed and quickness of a cat. Hakeem...the greatest center of all time!

Russel's shot blocking ability is legendary...but until you can provide the facts that support your statement Hakeem the Dream is #1 all time shot blocker!

I think its interesting that this last year, when Jordan, who many consider the greatest of all time, was asked if he could pick a team from the best players ever, said that he'd want Dream for his center, and that he believed he was the best to ever play the position.

    Sane,
Hakeem cannot pass himself as 2nd best shot blocker of all-time. Russel of course being first. [IMG]
