Id be more inclined to think he is doing it cause the kid's story reminds him of himself....overcoming huge obstacles to get paid playng a game he loves. besides...its not like he cant afford it..pocket change for him Im sure.
I hate when people make ignorant statements like this.I dislike Marbury but I respect what he's doing. People spend so much time talking about all the negative stuff athletes do, when they so something positive they do the same thing.
Yes, because he know his help for airfare would showup in a one liner on in a article on Rockets.com It isn't like he's calling the media and holding press conferences.
I couldn't agree more. As cocky as people say Amare is (I don't necessarily agree), a nice thing to do is a nice thing to do. Even if it's "pocket change" for him, he still didn't have to do it, and he helped the guy do something he wouldn't have been able to do for himself.
Amare will never be the same explosive player he was after that major knee surgery. It'll be a great pleasure to watch him decline in his career like Penny Hardaway.
Wow, so much hate . I know the guy is confident in his abilities, maybe a little bit too confident. But I like his explosive game. His talent alone can change the game. To wish for anybody's downfall like this, THAT I don't understand.. And good deed by Amare **thumbs up**
Better not to judge people. If you really have to, judge them on their actions, and the results from those actions. You will never know one's true intention, it's inverifible, so it doesn't matter. Even if Amare did that due to his "huge ego", so what? He helped the kid.
http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=75628&source=rss&dest=STY-75628 Amaré sits out practice By Jerry Brown, Tribune October 2, 2006 The Suns got their first piece of bad news during their Italian trip Tuesday when Amaré Stoudemire was forced to sit out the late afternoon workout, complaining of stiffness in the right knee that has given him problems on and off over the last month. “He said he had trouble getting loose," Suns coach and general manager Mike D'Antoni said. “He was fine for the first two days, but he couldn't go (Tuesday). Hopefully, it's a one-day thing."
Nice knowing you, Amare. At least you won't end up broke and in prison like Ralph Sampson... I think he'll last until the end of his contract, just because a team will have to pay him, but it doesn't look promising...
as a person i hate to see someone else injured. i also hate to see such a young guy with the ability to make a **** load of money possibly have to end his career early. as a rocket fan, it's good news. as a yao fan, it's good news. however, i'd rather yao and the rockets prove to be better then amare and the suns at full health. injuries are the worst part of sports...
Nope, he probably is a big Yao fan. Many Yao fans despise Stoudemire and would love to see him fail (and so they jumped for joy last year.)
Yao has the edge over Amare anyway, or atleast holds his own when they match up... in the games I've seen any advantage Amare has in terms of quickness and explosiveness is matched by Yao's height and... height But one more injury to his knee this season and he's finished - he should play 'softer' this season for the sake of his long-term career
