We get it. We KNOW you are helping the community. Now stop shoving it down our throats Mr. Stern. Who agrees?
I hate those commercials too, and the funny thing is the commercials don't tell you that they show up for like 10 minutes for photo opps then bolt. LOL!
I roll my eyes every time I see one of these commercials. You want to impress me? Turn the cameras off.
Exactly, the best good deed is done quitely and just to help someone out. Not for praise from the media and fans. Those commercials should go something like "Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets showed up for a photo opp at a boys home in South New Orleans and took a picture for this commercial." "Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat had unprotected sex with a woman other then his wife and gave his wife and himself an STD." "Eddy Curry of the New York Knicks asked his limo driver for a hand in some one on one in the backseat of his limo." "Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets took an evening out of his busy life to cheat on his wife and have a illegitimate child." "And Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers showed a prostitute that no means yes." "I'm Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers the NBA where lieing, cheating, gaying, raping, and caring happens". Way to cover it up Stern.
no...they dont care, we know you know it, we all know it...any true fan can tell that those player do not want to spend their off days reading to some dumb a** kid who wont appreciate it anyway. The day i believe those commercials is when there is one that says... NBA Cares....tracy mcgrady of the houston rockets donated half of his season salary to circuit city employees to live off of burn...facial...suck it stern!
Well, the only reason they feel the need to shove it down our throats is because there are so many casual fans who considered the NBA a bunch of 'thugs' (as if baseball and football are so much better ). I'm sure there are plenty of bball players that help the community in their own way without the cameras present but they have to participate in these events to constantly remind people that tatoos + cornrows does not equal thug.
I don't what the big deal is. It is just a commercial showing NBA players doing something in the community. I don't really see how that is annoying.
Same here. Kids look up to these guys so for them to show up and interact with them, means a lot to those kids. I'm sure they've done more for their communities than you folks that are complaining about the commercials. What are YOU doing for your community?
A lot of NBA stars set up their own funds to help the community. It could be PR but as long as it reminds people to share their helping hands, I dont see anything wrong with it.
Doesn't bother me. I like seeing what the different stars are doing to help the community. I don't think it needed to be the focus of the halftime show at the ASG
The commercial is not mainly about showing off how they are helping their community. It's also about showing that you should also help your community and that there is more than Basketball in the world. As Kobe Bryant said though, as NBA players they need to do a lot more in their life than play basketball.
The media doesn't focus on these stories; so if the NBA wants to take intiative( very much like like the NFL btw) and promote some of their biggest and brightest, why do you have a problem with it? If you are insecure cause you don't do schytte outside of your own self interest or you don't get the recognition when you do choose to help someone other than yourself......remember that is a double-sided coin and as a judgmental douche poster eluded to earlier we also aren't prvy to any of your major mistakes in life. MLB would be wise to follow in the footsteps of the NBA.
