Kobe was an Nba hero until he got hit with rape charges. The time i lived so far then the only heroes i've seen was Michael Jordan. Well Hakeem was a hero for a couple of years until he got old. Do you guys have any suggestions? Yao Ming is top contender of HEROES of the NBA right now?? His attitude and behavior shows it!! Unlike some other talented playas who don't ..

well, hero is a broad term and i dont fully agree with your definition. I think yao is a hero because of his devotion to his country and especially for what he contributed to SARS research, I think mutombo is also one as well for his effort to help bring healthcare in the congo. I even respect greg ostertag for giving away one of his kidneys to someone who needed it more. i dont think kobe or jordan are necessarily heroes (unless you are from LA or chicago), they are just exceptionally gifted athletes and competitors. with the amount of money that garnett makes, he could provide healthcare and education to half the poor children in the world but he doesnt. i think a hero is someone who makes extraordinary sacrifices to help others, not someone who uses their gifts and abilities to only help themselves. and we all know that the learning to read thing, although with good intentions, is just a publicity stunt for the players, they could be doing so much more if they wanted to do something really good.

p.s.-as for suggestions, dk, you need to work on your grammar and comprehension because I can understand non-native speaking posters from China better. this is not meant as an insult but please, for the sake of your future career and faith in the american education system, work on it.

Tina sang "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)"

Bonnie Tyler sang "Holding Out for a Hero" which is probably the song you are thinking of. :)

I think "I'm the Crawling King Snake" from The Doors is the most appropriate song for Mr. Yao with his new-found aggressiveness (actually, I think it's called Crawling King Snake).

Bonnie Tyler, now that's an '80's kick in the head!

"Once upon a time, I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart. Nothing else to do, a total eclipse of the heart."

    I need a drink.

One of the biggest heroes ever was manute bol. Dude gave away all his money (not squandered) to his country to try to better. Even was willing to degrade himself (boxing and hockey thingy) to achieve this. That imo is a true heroe.

    P.S. Yao is too.

Sean Elliot...he came back to play after the transplant. My sister went through one fo those and they are tough. To do that and come back and play...that is truely remarkable....

Tim Duncan is a standup guy. He's nice, polite, humble.and loyal to the Spurs. for that matter so was D Robinson....

I wouldn't mind any of my kids growing up to be like one of these guys. Too bad they all are Spurs.....

yeah, drob is definetly a hero in my book too, especially with his education programs. manute, although he has the right heart and motives is a hero, but i really wish he had some better consultants to help him out. If he had just been a little bit smarter ( and didnt gamble) he wouldnt have gone broke. its one thing to give money for a good cause, its another to gamble your money to give for the same cause.

What's a Nyquil? Is it a drug for crazy people? Yeah, I'm talking to you, yeah, you, Nyquil! You want to correct my grammar? Come here and I'll give you my password and let you edit my grammar, fool! Yao Ming is my hero for 2003! David Robinson sucks! Tim Duncan is too quiet!

I made some edits, but that was much clearer than your earlier post. I'm glad you are working on it. I would still suggest, though, that you make sure your sentences flow smoothly and that you have clear linear development from one point to the next.

people let this not get into a fight. we have enough of these in the D&D. don't make personal attacks. keep it to the subject.

about the hero thing. IMHO there are no hero's in sports. they are great players. if they give alot to chearity.and do alot for the lesser fortunite. then i respect that. in that way a agree with nyquil82. but i do not believe in hero's
