Nas- God's Son Columbia Official Release Date; 12-13-02 This friday! Just got this album last nite and I'm really suprised how good it is. I'd say God's Son blows away Stillmatic as far as quality but not Lost Tapes or Ill which is still not too shabby. Last major hip hop release this year so get this album.... or give it to your nephew for Christmas and borrow it back. standouts so far. Get Down - sounds like Alchemist production Made you Look - Diamond D production Warrior Song- ft. and produced Alicia Keys Last Real N**** Alive Revolutionary Warfare "Thugz Mansion" from 2Pac- Better Dayz.... acoustic version (sounds like "more than words" with Nas and Pac) but its not bad. There is an eminem produced track on here too.
I thought Tupac had beef with Nas. Now Nas is saying that they were warriors in the same battle. Same goes with Jay Z and his cover of Bonnie and Clyde. All Jay Z did in the Blueprint 2 was rip songs off of dead people and call in a lot of favors from other artists to do some songs for him. They gotta stop ripping Pac's street credit from his cold and dead body.
Damn, I forgot all about God's Son. Better than Stillmatic, eh. Sounds cool, I'll probably pick up the CD this weekend.
I'm gettin the album friday. You say its better than Stillmatic? I'm anticipating this one. I heard Nas say on 'Last Real N***a Alive' that Biggies 'Kick in the Door' was aimed at him. I was surprised by that. On 'Get Down' I know that part of that beat was sampled of off Pete Rock's "Petestrumentals."
I saw that JayZ video for Bonnie and Clyde and I couldn't believe he jacked that song from Tupac like that. He stole the beat, the spanish guitar sound, the chorus, and even screwed up the meaning of the song. Stupid ass JayZ.
Nas's new stuff has been pretty ill, But why is ****ing with Murder Inc? DO NOT get the new 504 Boyz CD, it is incredibly horrid. No Limit is dead, Percy needs to realize that. Snoop's New CD is pretty good.
He was on a radio interview saying that Murder Inc. had his back when he was going through the Funkmaster Flex spat. Then he shrugged it off saying that he didn't merge with Murder Inc. (it's just an alliance) and said that he went through a lot of **** this year. Murder Inc sucks. Nas went Hollywood when he allied with them...
I hear that JayZ is still hung up on Nas on Blueprint2. A shame really, considering how Nas destroyed him with Ether. Gotta check out God's Son....I'm just glad that the rhyme poet is back.
Tupac had a beef with Nas....but like Big it was a one way beef...I remember Pac dissing alot of folks and only Mobb Deep had an answer diss record "Drop a Gem on em". They never officially released it because Pac died...out of respect for the dead. As far as sampling, everbody samples its HIPHOP...Pac sampled...How many times have you heard James Brown "the Big Payback" sampled, or Grandmaster Flash "The Message" and Parliment cuts sampled? I think its only become a big deal because "Me and My girlfriend" is the only song people recognize. "03 Bonnie and Clyde" was re-production from a hot new producer Kanye West...I'm not the biggest Jigga fan but the production is dead on. Be mad at Toni Braxton....her cover blows I think you're right.....Nas still has his Ill Will label and my copy of the album says Columbia. JamesC....I really think God's Son better than Stillmatic....that might be different if "Stillmatic" the song was on the album. I know you're a big Nasty Nas fan like me so its hard to say God's Son is a whole lot better (I think I said "blows away") but it definitely has a more raw Nasir to it, sorta like Lost Tapes. "Made you Look" is blowin up in the clubs and is #1 gainer in my record pool...I don't remember the "Stillmatic" singles doing this well. Anyways Enjoy yall....this album definitely was not touched by Mudda Inc. NO irv gotti..... A must recommend to all rap fans.
Thats a HUGE relief for me. I was really wondering how the album was gonna be with if he did it with the Inc. I just couldnt see Nas making that move. I wish he could've done another song with DJ Premier. Whenever they team up they make classics.
Everytime I think Nas is going to come back to his senses he puts out something like this new single with Ja Rule. Overproduced nonsense, I have no more patience for that RnB.
