By the way, Ron's name shouldn't be included in a list of possible nicknames for the 2nd unit. I don't buy any theory that says Artest is better coming off the bench. He is probably our best player now.
That is the reason why Artest need to coming off the bench. Because he can do O/D by himself and Battier can't. Battier need to play with T-Mac and Yao to be effective. With Yao, Scola, T-mac, and Artest playing together, the front court would be too crowded. It should be avoid unless it is a tie game on 4th quarter.
Battier was plenty effective in a reserve role in Memphis. Plus, you don't rotate 5 players at a time. Battier will still be on the court with other scorers at all times. Artest is too damn good not to be a starter. I don't subscribe to the Manu theory either. That was an anomalous case for a team that was lacking offensive depth off their bench and also aimed to prevent Manu from burning himself out or getting injured. Artest is a far better player than Battier. He should start and get the majority of minutes at SF.
