With the influx of players to Dallas--including
Fortson--is there any chance of picking up
Najera ? We seem to be in pursuit of tough
role-playing players, and he certainly fits
    that mode...

Agreed, He's not the most finesse and skilled player, but he's a utility man who will give you everything he's got and hustle after everything. We had him originally too i think.

Why would you want Najera when Dan Langhi is available?

Didn't the Rockets originally draft Najara (out of Oklahoma)???

Wouldn't that look stupid to re-sign him now after trading him away on draft night for who-knows-what benchwarmer???

the main thing Dallas has been looking to do is get bigger and tougher inside. Najera is their toughest player. So obviously, no. Najera is not available unless you're a team with some bigger and tougher players to trade.

Cubes traded for Najera to be their token Mexican. he turned out to be a quality contributor.

Available? No way. But Langhi is 'free'.

I never liked Najera. There are other players out there that can fill that role and do a better job for the same money.

Well, one thing to keep in mind is that the Mavs won't be playing a lot of smallball anymore. While this doesn't necessarily put Eduardo on the block, it does reduce his role a tad, I think.

Then again, Antawn isn't exactly a tough guy.

He is from Mexico, speaks Spanish, and plays hard. Hardly Langhi.

That doesn't mean he is Mexican. I could be wrong though but I've heard his parents are full blood Indian.

But I agree with you he does play hard. I still cant believe they traded him away for nothing.

Ok, we're straying from basketball a bit, but why can't he be Mexican if he's Indian (of the Native American variety)? The Indians in the US are still Americans. And, it is even moreso the case in Mexico where most of the population has American Indian heritage.

The only reason the Rockets drafted Najera was because the Mavericks told them to. He was not the Rockets' pick; he was picked for Dallas. To say the Rockets 'had him', then 'traded him away' is not really accurate.

So Rudy worked for Dallas. I mean, what kind of reasoning is that, I understand they had an agreement, that doesn't mean they didn't make a mistake. I just get tired of hearing that excuse. "There was an agreement in place" well then that's the mistake.
