Funniest thing I've read all day! Really funny! For what it's worth I'd like to see him do well (as I would any other member of the Rox) if only to justify our pick! We don't use our first round picks often and I hate to see one go to waste....

I know that I am new to posting on this board, but I don't understand why everyone thinks Boki has so much potential. He hustles, but that doesn't make him fit our needs for three spot. He needs to hit the open shots. Everyone was saying the same thing about Dan Langhi and all of these "great practice players" who can shoot lights out during practice, but can't hit anything during the games. He hasn't shown me anything yet.

Boki has all of this "Potential" Eddie G. has all of this "Potential" Everyone says..."Be patient... give it time... let them get more comfortable." My only request is that if we remain "patient" good little Rocket's fans then when the team is 0-4 or even 0-10 at the beginning of the season, the same people that say "be patient" please don't make any posts saying the team sucks or that there needs to be an immediate trade or that the Rocket's don't have a clue, because then I would hate to respond in the same fassion.

Honestly, I feel the team has no need for Boki. He WAS good in Europe. He IS good in Practice. And game time I see nothing but disappointment. Eddie G. has shown that he is trying to develop his game. He is finally moving to the post. His defense is solid. Boki needs to turn in his passport and go back to europe where his game and his abilities aren't the liability that they are in the NBA.

ok.. obviously you guys dont know the difference between dan langhi and boki.. Dan Langhi could ONLY shoot on the move.. he was never a set shooter, we tried to make him one, but he just wasnt comfortable, he still isnt in Phoenix.. BUT boki on the other hand can do both, shoot on the run and set shooter as well.. I truly believe that boki will be fine.. man, if you know anything about shooting, you know boki has a beautiful pure shot.. it will start falling and it will poor like rain.. this man can shoot.. he makes 15-20 3's in a row in practice... CONSISTENTLY, night in and night out... i mean nothing but net.. francis tried to compete with him in a contest, he made like 2.. this guy can shoot.. his shot is pure.. haters may hate now.. but he will make it in the league.. at the worst he will be a tim thomas type player.. shooter who can slash.. AND boki can jump.. he has quick leaps.. i like boki alot.. i was starting to disbelieve... but im coming back around to boki.. he will be ok

Wow...all these people with weird names! :D

Anyways...I agree with you. I still got some faith in Boki...when the game isn't like going on, he like shoots a 3, and he drains it, and the crowd sees and cheers...but when the game is in session, he can't make the shots! But he really is working hard and rebounding pretty well. I still got hope...he's like a rookie. JVG will probably not play him this season that much...

I really like Boki. I was at the game on Sunday. He hustled a lot.
That was one good thing on that game.:(

im sorry to say this but quintel woods has way more potential than boki. in that rockets preseason game against portland, he showed alot of skill with a nasty dunk on the rockets. he has alot of upside in his game.

boki had a descent game today.. actually.. better then decent.. he had a breakaway dunk, fast break layup, 2 or 3 nice dishes, played EXCELLENT defense on stejakovic.. the man deserves a hand tonight... no hating from me! go boki!

Sadly though, no one will remember the decent game he had. They will only remember the posterazation that Wallace put on him.

Ive been checking around this morning and have yet to see a picture or video of it. Surely, next to the Chicago fan interference, this had to be the play of the night on ESPN.

In 20 years of watching basketball, I don't remember a nastier in game dunk than what I saw from Wallace last night.

I think you guys are mistaking "Decent" for "not terrible." The guy still misses a lot of wide open shots...sometimes horribly so. The guy still made a lot of bonehead defensive mistakes (even not considering the posterization) and while a break away dunk or two are nice, they really weren't results of anything he did well, but rather nice passes by someone else. I'm not saying don't give him credit for the points, but I would much rather him start hitting his open 3 pointers than to make a dunk or two every 5 games.

I was just trying to be nice. ;)

I agree with the rest. If Boki can't hit his shot consistantly, then he shouldn't be on the court. Just too much of a liability on D and his rebounding hardly makes up for the lack of shooting and lock of D.

On the Wallace dunk, I wouldn't even call that a defensive mistake. He tried to take the charge, which is smart, because he certainly is not going to block Wallace's attempt

However, in the end, he just ended up kissing Wallace's ankles.

    Comeon Lunatic...

you cant fault him for not defending that dunk...nobody could have.
He was so high in the air that his shins were in Boki's face.
and Boki did the right thing, he set himself and tried to draw the charge.

as far as he defense, when you keep in mind his lack of playing time in this league, and his background in a no-defense playing league....he is learning pretty quick.
He isnt a Doug Christie...hell, he isnt even a Cuttino Mobley when it come to D....but he tries hard and is getting better at it each game. Peja may have been partly responsible for his own shooting woes last night...but there were several occasions that Boki stayed with him and kept his hands in his face...he deserves at least partial credit for Peja's bad shooting.

    Look at it this way.

It's a known fact that he knows how to shoot. For whatever reason, he isnt hitting them right now. but at least when his shots arent falling, he does other things that the team needs.

rebounding, passing, hustling, and contributing to some of the better team defense we have seen all preseason.

he is doing ok so far...let's see how much better he can get this season before giving up on him.

Hey, I never said he couldn't get better, just that last night isn't a game that really gave me any more confidence that he would. And as for the Wallace dunk, it was silly to even try to defend that. Boki never had his feet set, was in fact barely even turned facing Wallace before he got ran in to. And besides, I wasn't getting on to him for that play in my earlier post. And as for him already knowing how to shoot, well, so did Langhi. I'm not saying Nachbar will be another Langhi, but we as Rocket fans should know first hand that a player shooting lights out in practice might not necessarily translate into a game situation.

As for his passing, I'm not seeing any passing skills that really impress me. He made a nice dish last night on that one drive of his, but outside of that he seems to either keep the ball when he makes a move, or freeze up and make ill-advised passes into a crowd. His rebounding has indeed been a plus that was unexpected...although somewhat spastic at times. I really want him to succeed because I thought he was a steal when we drafted him. Perhaps that generated some unfair expectations in my mind...but I really expected him to be further than this by now. I know he didn't play much last season, but he had an entire season of practicing against NBA level talent. I feel like he should be better than this by now.

I just hope that, unless he really, really improves, Van Gundy doesn't allow him to play 42 minutes in a regular season game (I'm quite confident he wouldn't).

I hate to be the PC police, but I don't think that's a great choice of words to describe someone's rebounding ability.

thank you Rockets2k for the excellent post... Im glad someone sees it the way I do... usually when a players is shooting poorly, he just gets mad and frusterated and everything starts to go wrong.. when i see boki missing he doesnt even show anger or frusteration, which i think is excellent.. he is gaining confidence every night.. and i truly believe that Van Gundy likes this guy and he will keep him around.. and who ever started with the posterized needs to calm down.. its not a big deal.. everyone will get posterized one time or another.. for god sakes.. Olajuwon got posterized many a times.. thats what NBA players live for.. specially players like wallace.. he never gets PT.. so now that he is getting it, he wants to show off.. Nachbar at least attempted to play D.. jumping up with him would be pure stupidity!

that dunk on nachbar was just an unfortunate situation. he didn't plant his feet in time to get the call but what else could anyone have done in that spot. we all had and have high expectations for boki based on the hype and where he was drafted but what precedence from european players shows that he should be alot further or any further along than he is now? he barely touched the court last year so this is essentially his first on the job training. he needs to start knocking down those shots though.
