i'd like to see boki become a strong roll player and honestly i think he can be, he just needs minutes that the rockets cant aford to give him. it would be in his best interest to keep working at it even if it isnt in houston.

Nchabar looked very impressive in the loss against the Sonics on Friday. His shot started falling and he definatley has handles on the ball. His only thing is his confidence, once that gets going, this guy is really going to be good.

FYI, the reason that Posey wasn't given a long deal is because our SF of the future is Nachbar, a guy who compliments Yao and Steve more than a guy Like Posey.

Nachbar did play good on Friday Night, hope that's only the beginning.

I have to completely agree withy you Zacatecas. He showed signs of what he can do if he just gets his confidence up. Basically this year is his rookie year since he didn't play all last year. I mean he was just a practice squad player red shirted all of last year.

His best friend on the team is Yao and Boki is still young. When he is on the floor with Yao i think Yao will pass out and give him open looks and he will nail them.

ALL Nachbar has to do is hit wide open 3's.

If he does that, then the defense will have to respect him... and then he can use his natural slashing abilities to get easy layups (I truly believe he's a better slasher than spot up shooter).

But, if he doesn't hit the wide open 3, defenses will lay off him and he'll lose confidence in the shot, try to drive it in closer, and get called for charging/turnovers.

Matt Bullard and Glenn Rice could hit the wide open 3 with regularity... but why did they go from team to team?... because they couldn't do ANYTHING once teams started to guard them out there.

Boki can actually DO SOMETHING when they come out on him... he just has to make the shots when he's WIDE OPEN.

I was not able to watch the game but I am not surprised that Nachbar played better last night with YAO on the floor. Nachbar strikes me as a guy that NEEDS to be the 4th/5th option on the floor, a role player. He is not the kind of guy that is the "go to" guy like he was being pegged at in the first few preseason games and all during the summer league. I think Nachbar's strength is being a role player on this team with a guy like Yao in the post making others better. With improved confidence I think Nachbar could be a solid role player for this team off the bench.

Nick, you are right. Bullard was close to the best in the league doing what he did, "shoot 3's". But he was a liability almost everywhere else, so when defenses saw he was hot, they'd take him out of the game and then Rudy was forced to take him out, even if he was hitting everything under the sky he couldn't create his own shot.

Nachbar isn't a great 3 point shooter, few will argue. But Nachbar seems to have the talent to be a solid 39% to 40% 3 point shooter. The good thing about him is that he's got the ball handling ability to drive by those hawk defensive strategies of covering up the 3 point shooters.

Nachbar seems to be an excellent ball handler. I was seeing that he looks very comfortable when dribbling the ball. He dribbles it like it belongs to him.

I may be going to far, but the word "Point Forward" comes to my mind.

Well honestly, he is a glorified rookie...What kind of team uses their first rounder to just sit on the bench!! That was real stupid! He never played last year...Maybe 13 minutes the entire season. I really want to give him a chance, but can he please hit a couple of baskets or we really dont have a choice. This Rockets team doesnt need anymore weak shooters and he's looking like he closes his eyes when he shoots, but at least he can rebound and run, cut and slash...That's a plus.

maybe, just maybe Nachbar can be like J. O'neal was. anyone remember how long he just sat around on the Blazers' bench before he exploded in Indiana? let's just hope that if Nachbar ever does explode, he's still with the Rockets. wishful thinking maybe, but a Rox fan has to dream. :D

Remember also that nachbar is ming's best friend on the team (he should have a roster spot just b/c of that:) )...ideally tho, nachbar is exactly the type of player that we need at the three, a complement to francis, ming, and mobley...i can picture a ming-nachbar combo on offense that could be formidable if nachbar ever pans out.

nachbar's strengths are listed as cutting, shooting, and passing on offense...those strengths don't work well in an undisciplined offense (summer league, preseason)...hence he's been playing poorly.

However in a more structured offense, such as like he was used to playing for in europe and hopefully with a center like ming, his strengths will be much more apparent...but that remains to be seen.

i wish everyone who is ripping a young guy who for whatever reason didn't play last year, would criticise their own posting ability as much

Yes...we can't use the argument that he didn't get playing time last year because he didn't earn it in practice, because that was with Rudy. Who knew what was going on in Rudy's mind. Now that JVG is here...there can be no more excuses. JVG is fair and if you earn it in practice then you will get playing time. Simple as that. If he doesn't get playing time THIS year, then we know that he REALLY sucks because he can't even earn playing time.

No more of the "how do you know he sucks when he doesn't even get playing time?" argument for the pro-boki crowd after this year.

"He dribbles it like it belongs to him"

    - But how can he dribble if the ball doesn't belong to him?

That one brought me to tears...hilarious. Please dont ever disrespect Tom Chambers like that again. I give Boki a 50/50 chance of making it in this league. I will say that he appears to know what he is doing out there, but shoots like crap. IF he can make shots then he will stick, he is not good at the summer league "Streetball" game that is for sure.

He needs to develop as part of the system, and that is probably why JVG is giving him alot of minutes. He hasnt had the chance to develop any bad habits like some of the guys on our team. JVG is going to build him up from scracth, I believe we have all seen him perform at rock bottom already. So hopefully there is only one way to go from here.

Nachbar has been a liability on the offensive side, but he sure as heck has a knack for getting to the ball and rebounds.

YOu can always learn to shoot. You can't get that knack for getting to the basketball by practicing. That is natural.

But still, Nachabar was drafted to score wide open jumpers. If he isn't making them, then he should not be playing the game with the Rockes.
