I hope you're right. But I'm sure something really crappy and overproduced will bump Adaptation out of there... maybe even Solaris will get bumped.

I'd actually watch those stupid awards if you're right.

 

So was Solaris good, then? I haven't really heard anything good about it.

 

I'm going to try to answer this one by just seeing Solaris. I've had a lot of lint, but seriously, never cheese. Maybe I just don't dig deeply enough.

 

road to perdition, how did u see this movie without falling sleep? i'm a huge movie fan (of all movies) but i dont see how someone can say this movie is oscar caliber, maybe ony cuz it has hanks?although, most of the time, oscar buzz for most movies are sometimes movies that shouldnt even be nominated. hanks, this wasnt a good choice of movie roles!

Don't be surprised if My Big Fat Greek Wedding gets nominated. I mean, I thought it was an amusing movie and everything, but Oscar nominee? It could happen. It's had more buzz than just about any other movie this year.

I think it will be Gangs of New York, Road to Perdition, Two Towers, Far From Heaven (artsy), My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

...and Gangs of New York will win.

 

Movies can be good without explosions and car chases. I thought there was plenty of interesting things going on in Road to Perdition to keep me awake.

 

The Two Towers will be the best movie out of all of them. But I'm not expecting it to win. Plus Peter Jackson said he doesn't want to try and 'influence' the judges (by sending gifts etc...). Good on him.

It would be really cool if Andy Serkis (Gollum) won best supporting actor, though.

Road to Perdition was very good.

 

Just saw Far from Heaven, and it is phenomenal. Great performances and gorgeous cinematography. Julianne Moore (sp?) is a hottie and the real deal talent.

Do you think John Q has a shot? I thought this was Denzel's best performance, better than last year's Oscar winner in Training day. Maybe, not the movie, but at least his performance should be nominated.

I'm pumped about Adaptation even though I can't remember Nic Cage's last good movie.

Adaptation doesnt appeal to me at all. I like some Nic Cage movies but only because they are action flicks. As an actor, I think he sucks.

I totally agree and think Gangs of New York looks really stupid.

How can anyone say that any movie is going to be nominated much less win, when you havent even seen the movie? I know that is the pot calling the kettle black being I think some look terrible but oh well.

Is Minority Report going to be nominated anyone think? I never saw it but it seems like it was quite well received.
