    Well, one nut, actually.

Sorry to be so blunt but I need a little help here.

I have a itchy rash about the size of a quarter on my upper left thigh in the groin area. Now the itchiness has spread over to the adjoining nut that touches it.

Is this just plain ol' jock itch? I've never really seen anything like it before. It's been hanging around for about a week.

    Any help?

Well, this thread ALREADY deserves to be mentioned in the "best of '03" thread, based on the title alone...

OK, so what is the other nut doing, sticking to your leg? :D

Unless there is actual pain in your nads, it sounds like a skin infection. Don't put it off or it could spread further, though.

It IS your nads, though, so I wouldn't take any chances. Get to a doctor ASAP, and try not to get a stiffy if your doctor is a woman...

Not the nad itself...just the skin...the upper leg itch was first.

I'm gonna get some jock itch stuff and treat is as a fungus until proven otherwise.

well... is it swelling? is it pussing? is your skin getting scaly, flaky, poxy, or just falling off in large chunks? is it beginning to exude a fishy smell, even after showering? does it itch more after exposure to any type of moisture or perspiration?

dude. honestly, go see a doctor! or at least a pharmacist. if you misdiagnose and mistreat a fungal or a bacterial skin infection, the damage to your skin can be permanent. (the medicines for each actually promote the growth of the other... ). not to mention seriously affecting your popularity at the office.

i speak from personal experience. i had a terrible fungal crotch infection during high school, i mistreated it, the whole area is still scarred 10 years later, not to mention it ruined my entire summer vacation that year! and you know what, that **** never goes away. it just lies dormant, waiting for conditions to be ripe before it strikes again... :(

Go to a doctor before the inflammation spreads.

Gold Bond Medicated Powder, I used to get heat rashes all the time when I used to work for a living and that stuff works wonders. TMI I know.

You can't take out your nuts for inspection in a pharmacy.

Sorry, but that is the law.

uh... is that from experience?... is this a legal opinion, should we ask Madmax? 4 out of 5 pharmacists agree, breaking your nuts out in the middle of Walgreen's is UNCOOL!

i'd say to dab it with alcohol or something. it's a drying agent so maybe it'll dry out.

seriously though, take your assprin to the doc's office, put your nuts on the table, and tell him to take a look.

if your nuts are that irritated, having them rub up against your legs will make them even more raw... hopefully not to the point where they'll fall off.

i say to use blue star ointment to reduce the friction.

    :D

One of my buddies only brought one pair of trunks to Cancun, and wore them for several days. When he came back to Austin, he had a violent case of jock itch. Make sure you get it treated before it gets worse.

Well, if you're REALLY interested, that would be orchialgia, from the greek orchi meaning testes, and algos, meaning pain...

Wow, who would have thought that medical terminology class I took in college would pay off? :)

Have you tried Windex? Did you know that 'nuts' is a greek word?
