My new play opens this Thursday at the Axiom (2524 McKinney, five blocks east of the George R. Brown). Tickets this weekend (Thurs, Fri, Sat) are only $5.99. After that they go up to $10 Thurs, $12 Friday, $15 Saturday. I hope some of you will come out. Thursday is my theater company's 10 year anniversary and it's also "Infernal Bridegroom Productions Day" by proclamation of the Mayor. The play's called Meat/BAR. It's about drinking in bars and also a lot of other stuff. It is very, very funny and also sometimes sad. And I think it's the best thing I've ever done. Call 713-522-8443 for tickets or go to www.infernalbridegroom.com for more info. And let me know if any of you are coming (rimbaud, you still bringing heypartner and group?). I'd love to meet anyone from the board. Hope to see you there. Batman
Thanks, Max. I am. If Refman's not on the board right now, would you do me a favor and let him know about the show? I've lost his email.
Hey Batman -- Do you ever check your email? I sent you one some time ago. Drop me a line please at Lynus302@yahoo.com. Thanks.
make reservations now!! i'm going on friday or saturday... this week (cheap theatre por moi!) Batman Jones, tell us a little bit about the music that's in meatBAR!!!
Thanks, Max. Lynus, mailed you. We been having terrible trouble with our email accounts, but it should be fixed now. rockHEAD: Glad you asked. About the music.... First off, you can get a first listen tonight on KTRU. The Local Show, which airs 8-10, is dedicating an hour to IBP music (this CD and other stuff) in honor of our 10th anniversary. Some of you may remember the old school music req I posted about a month ago. We've made the most b****in CD (partly from stuff heypartner hooked me up with through KTRU) and it's being released this Thursday for our opening. It plays during the show as if it's being played in the bar. Songs by elevator up, de Schmog, Sprawl, middlefinger, Horseshoe, Carolyn Wonderland, Slump, JW Americana, Blessitron 4000, Seximals, Chris King, Josh Kosoy and Keenlies, all completely reinterpreted and played by various members our the IBP band and also members of the bands we're covering (Carolyn sings Blessitron, Jay from Fleshmop sings Keenlies, Matt from Sprawl sings Fleshmop, etc.). Awesome CD. Available on our website or at the show. Probably Sound Exchange and Cactus as well, but not sure.
Of course I'm out of state so I won't be able to see this production but I hope it kicks some serious a$$. The last show I heard about from you was the Kinks rock opera. How did that go? It would have been a blast for me to see it, I'm sure. Anyway, I'll tell people I know in Houston to go and check it out.
Awesome, HP. Sounds like it's shaping into a cc.net kinda night. Will be good to see you guys and to finally meet rimbaud. Thanks for the well wishes, FB. The Kinks thing went amazingly well. Here are two fan reviews from folks who traveled to see it. First one's a guy from Austin, second's from California (with great pics): http://kinks.it.rit.edu/misc/review-20021116.html http://kinks.it.rit.edu/misc/review-20021115.html
Just got word from Mike at KTRU that 9 - 10pm tonight will be an IBP tribute, and will likely feature at least a song or two written by your friendly neighborhood Batman. Tune in and check it out. 91.7 FM.
then friday night it will be!! MAKE RESERVATIONS NOW!! cheap seats go quick! don't risk buying them at the door. I will look for you HeyP... FranchiseBlade, The Kinks 'A Soap Opera' kicked major ass! The music was dead on (I have the original soundtrack) and the production was top notch. The back up singers were pretty sexy and the lead character did a great job. Check out http://www.infernalbridegroom.com and go to 02/03 season... there will be a link for the show. Also... check out their forum (bbs), it's pretty good and sometimes raunchy!
I swear on a stack of holy books that I respect but don't necessarily believe in ( God, it's the modern age) that, if I lived within 50 miles of H-Town, I would come, and I'd bring friends...and some of us would have bells on. I've had a few plays performed, though probably way fewer than you, and I know the feeling; it's the closest thing to being a parent I've ever experienced. Break a leg, hell...break T_J's leg if it'll help ( )...It will be a blast, either way, and many people will live their entire lives never knowing the feeling you'll get when your words are out there for everyone else to take and do what they want with them, so enjoy it for it's own sake, whatever way it goes...Do you act, as well?
Those reveiws and pics were great. I swear next time I'm in H-Town, you better have something going up. I've had plays performed and performed in them, and I like to support live theatre. I especially love to support it when it's good, and Everything I've heard about them or from you seems like IBP does quality work. I worked with a board in NY about theatre and they said the worst enemy that theatre has is bad theatre. IMO most of the stuff available is bad, and when people go see someone's showcase or other bad theatre, they won't go see another theatre show for 4 years. I would love to come see something. Thanks for the link, Rockhead
MEATbar, meatBAR, meatbar!!! i got my reservation for Friday night... see ya there HeyP?? $5.99 - you can't go wrong!
How long is the run?? I'd love to come down from Austin and see it. It kills me that I missed the Kinks play. I know I would have loved it. I'll check out the link rockHEAD so brilliantly provided. Good Luck!
