Dont get me wrong, I agree with you. and plus, the vehicle only has a mind-numbing 104 horses. Thats incredibly slow. here's the other creation, the Scion XA But in there defense, Scion vehicles come complete with a nifty japanese racing style upgrade kit that incluse color keyed everything like the steering wheel, neon LED lights, brain thumping Pioneer sound system, even AEM cold air induction and strut tower brace. All are factory accessories options you can get. So, with these options available, young people might be interested.
You guys need to get rid of that new car ego thing. Buy what you want but buy one that has already been driven off the showroom floor. That first depreciation hit is a killer. In fact you can buy a cool ride with some miles on it for the price as a new econobox. I like that new car smell but I like the smell of money better. Jeep
Hmm.......................interesting point, but I dont think you can find an 86' Ford Tempo with power anything and a navigation screen. With all the inovations being added to cars now a days, you might want to rethink your statement. Just a thought?
When you work in the newspaper business and saving up for a house with acreage, money is tight. I bought a 99 Maxima for 12,000 bucks this January and I couldn't be happier. Darn car only had 39,000 miles on it too! Why buy new and get the shaft in depreciation? I keep my cars ten years and drive them until they don't run anymore.
I bought a used car before this one. It had low mileage and seemed fine the first couple of years, but then it seems as though everything started to go wrong. With a new car, you also don't have to wonder how the previous driver was. *Note - not the case with all used cars, some are kept in near perfect condition.
By saying I'm buying a 'new' car, that could just mean new to me. I would gladly pick up a six month old SC430 with 5K miles on it for 10 G's less, IF I could find one.
I'm not saying buy an '86 Taurus. Buy the car you want but find one with a few miles on it. Like a demonstrator that has been driven by a salesman for the dealership or a repo that some poor schmuck couldn't make the payments on. Just tell your sales dude you are willing to take some miles on a car to save money and let him find one. I bought my 2000 ML with 600 miles on it; the wife of one of the dealership honchos had decided she needed to take one of the new ones on an antique shopping trip. I recently bought a SUV for my niece on E-bay and it was a super deal. Heck just run a google search for the make and model you want and I bet you find atleast 25 listings. Some may be in other cities but if it looks good in the pictures it is probably worth a $200 plane ticket to save a couple of thousand dollars on the car. How many hours can you invest in your search to save $1000? A whole week if you make $25 an hour! The original warranty on most new cars is transferable and if it is a vehicle you plan to drive till the wheels fall off , you can purchase an extended warranty. Finding a killer bargin feels good. Knowing the car you just drove off the lot is now worth $3000 less than you paid for it sucks. Good Hunting, Jeep
I used to have a Honda Civic. Had been driving it for a long time. I once took my team for a ball game out of town. We lost. The team must have blamed me for the lose, because even our team's private jet gave out a fart and subsequently blem up my Honda. Depressing......
How much did you spend? If you spent more than 25K, then you should have treated yourself to the Acura TSX.
True, but it can still fly. 200 horses isn't magnificent either, but it isn't shabby, and I don't feel that the horsepower is really indicative of how fast this car really is. Fully loaded(Navigation system, indash CD changer, etc...) you can get a TSX for $28K. While I wish it did come with a V6, the four cylinders get the job done fine. I'm not really a car connoisseur, but this car is just as fast as(Or faster than) any of the other sub-$30K cars that I have driven(Accord, Civic, Camry, Avalon). IMO, the Acura TL, TSX, and RSX are some of the best bargains out there as far as near-luxury cars go.
I'm running around in circles trying to make this decision, so maybe yall can help me out... I'm going to be buying my first real car. I'm 26, live up North and in the city (el to work), so the car is not for everyday use - its for trips to the gym, store, weekend use, road trips, etc. I'm looking for a sedan. General price range in the $25-32 range. I want the basic goodies - leather, premium stereo, good HP, etc. I'm not married to a new or used, but i really don't want a car older than 2-3 years old. And, if I'm going to buy a used, I want something that will justify it on a resale basis. Cars I have been looking at include: - Nissan Maxima - Acura TL-S - Used BMW 325xi (can't have a RWD car up here) - Used Audi A4 3.0 I'm probably not going to get the TL, because the new version is coming out this Fall, but it's a great value, so its hard to keep off the list. I haven't done the investigation into value on a new Maxima vs. a used BMW vs. a used Audi, but my gut says the BMW will win out. Unless people have other suggestions or good input on these, I'll probably let price be the deciding factor. Any help?
TL, I have got the perfect car for you. My brother just bought his wife a C320 mercedes from the North MB dealership and it drives and rides like a dream. Though the C320 is a bit more, there is their new C230 Kompressor 4 Door sedan which is only about 28-30. This is meant to be sportier with larger sport wheels and a nice aluminum trim. You still get the 4 yr 50k miles warranty AND free service including oil changes etc. Its a great car and will last much longer than any of the other ones you stated. With my own search I have just recently seen the most bad ass car that just makes the CLK and the SC430 look like girly-rides. The Mercedes G500. That car is a rock and its probably one of the best built Mercedes Ever. I can't post pictures and it is a bit boxy but its just a tank.
Get an AWD car. The Subaru WRX STI and Mitsubish Lancer Evo are sweet cars. Kind of childish looking, but the best performance in that price range.
