No, no. Hibernation starts tomorrow... I'm reading all the replies and sort of re-thinking this though... I hope I don't die from sleeping too much.

I like the motto you can sleep when you die. 8 hours of sleep is overrated in my world view

are you on spring break or something? How do you have the time to do this?

And I love sleeping, I sleep like +10 hours on weekends and can probably keep on sleeping if I had too.. i might be a good person to try this sleep 80% of the time thing out actually!

children have been known to die in as little as 2 inches of sleep. no...no wait...that's water. ok you're probably safe.

but i will say if you've only been sleeping six hours a day, there is no way you'll be able to force yourself to sleep anywhere close to 80% of the time. granted i have trouble going to sleep while some people can just lay down and fall asleep in 2 minutes, but you sound more like me than the others, so you'll be rethinking this pretty shortly most likely.

my personal record is 15 hours. came after a night of 1 hour of sleep. i have some amazing ability after a night of getting very little sleep (~4 hours or less) to sleep the exact amount the next day to make the 2 day total 16 hours. i had done it quite a bit before that 1/15 combo and was amazed that even at essentially the most extreme end of the spectrum, it still worked.

it seems kind of weird b/c the most regular sleep schedule i've ever had was the 2nd semester of senior year of high school, and i usually just got 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep then, so i'm not sure why the 2 day average is always 8, but it is.

I think its a good idea. At least you'll be rested for the big games coming up.

Lol. It's like he's doing a "Supersize Me" type experiment. Except this would make for the most boring documentary ever.

Good luck. Last week for Monday through Wednesday, I averaged about 12 hours of sleep per day and I felt great.

Make sure to get a little physical activity and stretching in during your waking hours. Muscle atrophy sets in pretty quickly...

It really does sound like a boring David Blaine stunt. Only you don't have doctors giving you medical advice or monitoring your condition. I don't know if this will have medical repercusions or not, but it's not natural and doesn't seem healthy.

I am in favor of this kind of experimentation. I think it's great. I think you will get extremely bored, and without exercise you won't feel that great.

If you tried for a shorter period of time like 2 days then I think it might serve to recharge your batteries.

But for this one experiment, I encourage you to stick to your original plan. Then later on you can do subsequent experiments making adjustments, based on the results.

I had the flu bug pretty bad one time in college, and I slept for probably 32 out of 36 hours. When I woke up finally, every muscle in my body felt like it had cramped up. It was awful. I ached for hours.
