Just found out that Styxx will be performing @ my company's party on the 13th.

    How awesome is that?

Last year they had Foreigner and I can't remember who they had the year before, but it was a big 80s band.

Anyway, just thought I would share, and yes, I know this is the wrong forum. :)

How big of a company do you work for?

The department I work for has a Christmas party put on every year by our Doctors. It's a big fancy thing. No bonuses or anything though. :(

So, I guess we know what Styxx is doing now. I heard KC and the Sunshine Band can now be hired out for private parties as well.

That sounds awesome. With most companies slashing discretionery spending, you guys have Styx at your Christmas party. I saw them play in San Antonio before Def Leppard last year. They nailed "Come Sail Away" and played a few other familiar tunes. Sadly, no "Mr. Roboto."

You know you're a washed up band when you have to accept gigs at some corporate pile of dung company.

At a company I worked for in the past, the Beach Boys performed for the xmas party. I felt so embarrassed with so many old farts and white collar stooges getting down to them. Nothing more unhip then a company function that you are sorta forced to go to and schmooze to superiors and people you don't like.

Nice. My Christmas Party...no excuse me...Holiday Party will be a buffet line of marginal quality food to be take back to your desk or eaten in the conference room. Sorry I should be more grateful but that's just sad. Though at another company they would give us a frozen solid turkey the day before Christmas. How are you supposed to thaw out a frozen turkey and cook it in less than 24 hours? So this big bird ends up taking up most of your freezer for 350+ days. You get to see your Christmas Bonus everytime you opened the freezer - all year round. I know the people in charge of the decision didn't get one or they would have seen the flaw in their gift.

Who was singing all the Dennis DeYoung songs? And I don't think you'll ever hear them play Mr Roboto ever again. From what I understand, it was a huge reason why they kicked DeYoung out of the band. Everyone else in the band hated that whole album and tour except him.

Some of you would be surprised how many well known bands play the corporate circuit. LOTS of money to be made. I've seen bands like Earth Wind and Fire, The OJays, the Pointer Sisters, Randy Travis, the Beach Boys, Kenny Loggins, etc. all play gigs like this.

I think it's safe to say that my company won't be having a Christmas party this year. If you know which company it is, you know why. It would be all over the news the next day and congress would hold hearings....

I'll make up for it though - by eating all the free food (and drinks) at all the holiday parties my band is playing for next month. :)

The Rolling Stones can even be hired for corporate gigs like this.

    Pricetag is $3 million.

I've heard of guys like Chuck Berry and Little Richard doing the same. I'd hardly call any of these guys "washed up"...

Dang dude, who do you work for?
That's pretty sweet you guys get famous bands albeit older ones to come play at the Christmas party. Lucky you.
