I'm not a huge ska fan but I know that Secret Agent 8 is THE ska band to see in Houston. I heard you guys about two years ago and the band was great. I'm sure it will be a killer show. Good luck. Oh, and drop a line to say how the Rhythm Room is. I've gotten mixed reviews and my band is playing there in October.
I played there a couple of months ago when CDBaby.com came through with their Tour Baby event. I like the setup and layout of the place alot. Of course I like the layout of Cardi's and those shows were always crappy. I'm guessing that's it's pretty difficult to pull a decent crowd like most places in Houston. I don't remember what the sound was like but I'll give an update tonight.
Jeff, it turned out better than I expected. I'd say that most of the crowd was there for us and alot were dancing in front of the stage. The sound was very good. The sound guy, Kirk, knows what he's doing. The only bad thing was that even with the band discount beer was still $2.
One of the bands I play with opened for Guy Forsythe at the Rhythm Room last fall. I liked it...good onstage sound, nice people running the club.
