Now this might be the wrong forum but I have just bought my second cat and I named HER Cuttino and the other one I have name is Francis. Francis is male and they both aren't de-sexed so maybe I will have the whole team soon! [IMG]

I can see this thread degenerating into an ugly flame war over Francis and Cuttino having kittens.

    Fun!

Miggidy -- you should get them spayed or neutered. There are already way too many stray animals as it is. It's not very expensive and doesn't take very long either. The animals don't notice and it's very important.

Bite your tongue!!! My wife and I have...well, it is more than I'd care to mention. In fact, at the moment, we took in a stray (a very sweet male tabby who obviously got dumped because he is declawed!) because he had been hit by a car.

We had been feeding and petting him for a little while but didn't want to take him in until after the first of the year (we were busy adopting dogs out to people!). He didn't come around for a couple of days and when he did make it back, he had a shattered back leg.

    He is resting comfortably, fortunately.

Miggidy: One piece of advice on your cats. If there is any chance that either one could get out, get them spade/neutered. Not only does it prevent overpopulation, it will cut down on their chances of getting Feline HIV, which is the number one killer of outdoor cats.

    Otherwise, enjoy 'em. [IMG]

Another tip on the spaying. I don't know if it applies to cats but it applies to dogs. Our dog died of breast cancer (she was around 14). We did not have her spayed until she was around 7 or 8. She never had a litter and I am fairly certain the opportunity never prevented itself. According to our vet, dogs that do not have litters and are never spayed or spayed late in life have a far greater chance to develop breast cancer than do others.

Also, if they are from the same litter, don't let them mate. You can end up with nasty deformations, like one with a missing pupil. But, of course, then you can call that one "Wink".

Yes, they can have breast cancer and she would have had to have a mastectomy of all 6 "breasts". It was the first I had heard of it and showed itself very suddenly. One day she seemed fine, the next she was in dire straits.
