My concern about The New Guy is knowing how long that sucker has been sitting on the shelf waiting for release. They shot that thing almost two years ago. Usually when a movie is good, they don't let it sit around for so long. But it may be funny enough.

There are a bunch of movies I'm looking forward to. Some notables:

    Spider-Man
Hollywood Ending (I'm a Woody Allen fan)
    Star Wars, Epiode 2
    Insomnia
    The Sum of All Fears
    The Bourne Identity
    Mr. Deeds
    Road to Perdition
    Eight Legged Freaks
    Austin Powers: Goldmember
    K19: The Widowmaker
    Spy Kids 2
    XXX
    Full Frontal
    A Guy Thing
    Signs
    One Hour Photo

and even Men in Black 2 a little.

I have to admit I've been counting the days for Star Wars Episode 2. Austin Powers 3 is another one.

I am pretty sure it is called "The New Guy"

    http://www.upcomingmovies.com/newguy.html

    http://us.imdb.com/Title?0241760

For the near future I want to see StarWars II, SpiderMan, Austin Powers III, MIBII, Mr. Deeds, and The Road to Perdition.

Minority Report, WindTalkers, and XXX look good also.

Summer Sleeper - Jackass : The Movie. :)

But the #1 movie on my list is T3: Rise of the Machines(2003).

    For the future:

The Matrix Reloaded (II) in May 2003 / The Matrix Revolutions (III) in Nov 2003, Indiana Jones IV(way off), and The X-Men II in May 2003 also.

There's nothing wrong with a stupid little teen comedy as long as it is funny. When I first saw trailers for The New Guy about a year or so ago, it looked like it had the potential to be funny.

    Also interesting

Gangs of New York (L. Decaprio) (Mirimax/Touchstone)

    and

Catch Me if you can (L. Decaprio / Tom Hanks) (DreamWorks)

are going head to head at the box office on Christmas Day 2002.

I wonder if Decaprio is pissed about that?

Hanks does a lot of DreamWorks pictures.

The New Guy has Eliza Dushku, which is enough for me.

How do you guys hear about these things?

I have heard of maybe 5 mentioned. Does that just mean that you go to entertainment sites and I don't, or is there some other source?

    Minority Report
    Insomnia
    XXX
    Full Frontal
    Eight Legged Freaks

Never heard of any of those (many others, too, but these sound more interesting), but more than one person mentioned them.

Also, maybe one of you guys know (mrpaige?), but aren't the Cohen brothers supposed to be doing a movie called Bad Santa to come out this Christmas?

I don't trust Hollywood Ending - Allen has not done good work in a while.

Really? I thought some of the recent ones were pretty entertaining. More light comedy than he had been doing, but still very entertaining. At least I thought so.

As for Bad Santa, it's being produced by the Coens' production company but is being directed by Terry Zwigoff (of Crumb and Ghost World fame) and isn't supposed to come out until Christmas 2003 (pushed back from 2002).

I generally read Ain't It Cool News ( http://www.aintitcoolnews.com ), as well as UpcomingMovies.com for information and stuff about movies (I also check out the Apple Quicktime Trailers page every once in a while), though two of the ones you mentioned, I've seen trailers for in the theaters (Minority Report and Insomnia).

Insomnia is a remake of some foreign film (called Insomnia) starring Al Pacino, Hilary Swank and Robin Willams and directed by Christopher Nolan (of Memento fame).

Minority Report is Steven Speilberg's new movie and stars one Tom Cruise. That trailer has been in every movie I've seen for the past couple of months.

    As for the others,

Full Frontal is a digital feature by Steven Soderbergh with Julia Roberts and all sorts of folks in it. It may be crap, but Soderbergh is usually pretty good.

XXX is a Vin Diesel action movie where he's some sort of government agent (like an Urban James Bond). I saw the trailer online at that Apple site.

And Eight Legged Freaks is a comedy/horror movie about giant spiders. That trailer is also over at that Apple site ( http://www.apple.com/trailers )

    Thanks, mrpaige.

I am encouragd about Bad Santa if Zwigoff is directing it. I have not seen Ghost World, but I know Zwigoff pretty well (even his music).

Now I remember hearing about Minority Report...will probably pass.

XXX - lol, won't see it, probably.

Eight legged - sounds like Arachnophobia II.

As far as Allen goes, yeah, his work just hasn't held my interest for some time. Maybe it is the more shallow nature of his content or maybe his act has gotten old with me. I don't really know.

    Again, thanks.

Insomnia looks awesome, I dont think I have ever seen Robin Williams as heel and almost everything with Al Pacino is good. We saw the trailer on TV just the other night and we will definitely see it when it comes out.
