For an AKG K701, what would you use ? I looked up web, there are quite a few comments but most involving DIY a cMoy. I am not exactly an electrical handyman, so something off the shelf is preferred.

Get a Creek OBH-11 or a vintage Marantz 1060 integrated amp. Those can be had on the bay for 100-200 bucks. If you wanna spend the extra cash, and go tubes, then look at the redone Fisher 500 tubed receivers - those are sweet!
depends on how much you want to spend and if this is a portable amp. thats quite a good pair of cans to be properly amped by cmoys. the best overall amp that i have heard is RSA emmeline "the hornet". and it will run you about $350 new, a bit cheaper if used. Xin Micro is also an excellent amp based on reviews but the waitlist for his amps are usually a couple months.
