What is the situation with Ricky Rubio right now? I know he signed with FC Barcelona, but is there any chance that an NBA team could buy him out if the acquired his rights from the TWolves? I think he would be a great fit with the Rockets and I know D Morey(the buyout genius) likes him a lot.
An NBA team can only contribute $500,000 to his buy-out. He'd have to front the rest. Unless his FC Barcelona buy-out is significantly cheaper than his DKV Joventut buy-out (which I don't think it will be for the next two years), he probably won't be in the NBA. After 2 years, I think his buy-out is significantly cheaper or is at the point where he's willing to pay it. Or... maybe he just doesn't have a contract after 2 years? I dunno for certain. Anyway, an NBA team can't contribute much so it's unlikely he'll be in the NBA this year or next year.
Rubio can easily get a shoe deal from China at $3M per year. Hayes got one worth $5M. Money should not be the problem.
Can't get a shoe deal until he joins Yao's team. Can't join Yao's team until he buys his contract out. Can't buy his contract out until he goes a shoe deal. See the circular dependency here? IOU's don't work in the real world, unfortunately.
i think they'll change the 500k limit with this new CBA. Plus maybe waive the rookie pay scale for certain players that have played professionally for a while.
Kahn's got to be feeling the heat for assembling the worst team in NBA history in his first season. It takes something special to do that. He'd probably trade Rubio for unemployment insurance
This kid will be a bona fide super star. Mark my words. I would trade Brooks for him in a heart beat. I've seen him play on NBA TV for a few times. His game seems effortless. He will never be a shoot-first guy but man! he creates!
If you like Ricky's game, you'll love his nips. http://www.rickyrubio9.com/es/2009/11/cuando-20-anos-no-es-mucho
