Congrats. I am happy for you. Seriously.

I have never, and probably will never vote for a liberal democrat running for president. I didn't vote for you, I could give my reasons, but it's pointless now, you have won. I don't like your policies, I don't like your ideas, but for now, I am willing to accept them, lets see if they work.

I'm willing to put all of my political and social beliefs aside. I love America more than I dislike you. I believe in America, therefore, I'm going to believe in you. America is in your hands, and so Mr. Obama, I support you. I have my doubts, and for the sake of my God, my country and my family, I hope you will prove me wrong as I am fully aware of the consequences of your failure. For now, this 'conservative' is behind you.

Good luck Mr. Obama, I wish you success.

Very similar feelings. Although my beliefs are totally different from yours Mr. Obama, I will support you as my president. I think America is going places, and we are setting examples for the rest of the world. PLEASE DO WELL! My support is behind you, and I will go to bat for this nation, and you for that matter, any day of the week!

Most of the Mccain supporters on this BBS has been very gracious today. It is great to see that people are willing to give Obama the chance to prove himself.

That's been the hope for years, but don't count on it.

Why can't we just come together as Americans?

Don't count on it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it happen but I believe it is highly unlikely. :(

    Well said.

Let's show Christ's love, grace and pray for our leaders.

    1 Timothy 2
1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5 For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. 7 And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.
8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

We said the same thing about electing a Black President. We must believe. If we all can believe then we all will do. That's what happened last nite

Huge responsibility and opportunity for Obama. As the first African-American elected to this office in the USA, there are many people waiting for him to fail. Regardless of how you voted, we need him to suceed.

I don't agree with Obama on a lot of issues, but he talked about uniting and "reaching across the aisle" to get things done. I hope he can.

I didn't vote for Obama either but I am hoping that he can do the very best job possible to fix the country.

As long as he doesn't cut jobs in the industry I work in (which is defense contracting and we support a LOT of NASA contracts) and show that he is trying to do something to get us out of this recession, it's all good to me. Yea, some of the other things bother me but that is more due to being a Democratic stance than anything related to Obama (abortion, same sex marriage, etc.).

I mean it wasn't a surprise to me that he won - I've said it before but Jesus couldn't have won the election if he was the Republican candidate. Stupid Bush screwed up so badly that he made it impossible for anyone following him to win. I am beginning to think that more people voted against the Republicans than they voted for Obama.

I just hope people are patient and don't go bonkers if things aren't turned around immediately. It is going to take some time; let's give Obama the time he needs to fix things and not jump all over him if the recession is still going on 6 months into his presidency. I am afraid that so many Americans are thinking that with Obama, everything is going to be fixed instantly - that is not going to be the case.
