Hey guys. I am changing MP3's. I am saying goodbye to itunes because it sucks (although I love my ipod.) I am looking for something that makes it easy for me to transfer my music already in my computer without all of the BS issues I had with itunes. Something with an 8 gig or 16 gig capacity that is able to show videos and photos as well. Does anyone have experience with the Zune? I saw there unlimited downloads for 15.99 and was interested in knowing if they had an extensive library. Any help with other MP3's that you have experience with would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I think this is the most important buying feature for me personally -- if I can't just drag/ drop i'm not going to buy it no matter how good it is. Sony's ATRAC music formatting/ store for their mp3 walkman was horrible.

What were the issues you had with iTunes? If you still like your iPod but had problems with iTunes, I think mozilla's new songbird program has iPod support. I could be wrong, but it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Go with a Creative Zen or Archos media player.

As an alternative, you can use a third-party app to transfer your songs to your iPod besides iTunes. I have an iPod because of the accessories and I use Media Monkey to transfer my songs. Media Monkey comes in both a free and a pay version.

Winamp will also transfer songs to an iPod.

I've never purchased songs on iTunes because of the DRM and any mp3's that I do purchase I get from Amazon. All the rest of my music is from ripped CDs (that I own!).

Unless you are dragging and dropping the files right into the player you aren't living life. Using software in general is a soul crusher.

I completely agree. I was so disappointed with my Sony mp3 player because of this. So much, in fact, that I will never again buy any sort of Sony product.

Transferring music from outside files to my Ipod via Itunes hasn't been a problem for me. Wonder what the OP has been frustrated with.

Same here. You just drag and drop each song to your iTunes library.

Yeah, i'm pretty much on the same boat -- Sony is a brand to stay away from these days. The quality of the product is still pretty good, but all the sneaky programs and spyware they sneak in are just ridiculous.

My Sansa View is a pain in the azz. It freezes rather frequently and i've had all sorts of trouble trying to load files/videos.

In Media Monkey you can just drag and drop your songs into your player. I have it set up to auto-sync play lists so I just update the play lists in Media Monkey and the iPod is updated but you can drag and drop no problem.

You can't drag and drop in Explorer, however. If that's what you're talking about than you do need to look elsewhere.

I hate the IPod and all things Apple. So I bought a Zune only to realize they don't have East Asian language support. IPod is a better device than Zune in all important ways for a media player (interface, language support, size, etc). If I wasn't an Apple hater I wouldn't have bought a Zune. Well Zune plays wma files so that actually does make it slightly better.

For anything other than a touch, go with a Zen or an Archos Av (whatever is out right now, I have the 500)
I've had them all, and I think the touch is the best, but the other two are close behind
I guess Zunes are good? The screen is too small for my taste though..
