I'm looking for the best freeware out to edit or "mix" an mp3 to make some free ringtones, etc...

Call me cheap... but it couldn't hurt to ask the wealth of knowledge here, right? :D

btw- I'm trying out the "focus Audio Editor" and like the graphic interface, but I think it's limited without chunkin' down the change...

    Any ideas?

Is you sound file already in mp3 format? If not, you can start with a wav file before converting to mp3 with Audacity. It's free and open source. It will not edit mp3 files, but it will edit a wav file and save it as an mp3. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I think Goldwave is free and should be good enough for what you are trying to do.

I use Audacity for all my mp3 or wav editing.
