Im going to come up to Walgreens in the summer and be like hey are you the guy from clutchfans, haha.. Oh and some advice if you want to be able to study, do not live at the grove, u hill is by far the nicest but probably the most expensive as well.
Cambridge Court was an upgrade from "Rio Del Oro" for me back in 1989. Don't recognize the other places you mention, they must be "new" as in, built after "Crossroads" closed down. Good luck, I loved living there... nothing but forest and lakes all around. Had to drive back to H-town on weekends to make money though. Sounds like you have that part figured out.
Can I ask what made you switch from graduating from pharmacy school to studying for the MCATs? Is the field not that great right now?
Pharmacy is actually booming right now. Retail pharmacists in Dallas make about $115-120 for 40 hours of work per week. If you pick up extra shifts, then you'll make more than that. Of course, smaller towns like Nac will pay you a little more. Pharmacists will be okay for at least the next 10-20 years (unless universal healthcare brings every healthcare worker down), but every company keeps trying to figure out new ways to cut the number of pharmacists need. With the addition of 2 new schools (3 if you count Abilene's campus) in Texas in the past few years, the shortage of pharmacists in Texas may not be as much as other states. Anyway, I'm going to try to get into an MD/MBA program. I always wanted to become a physician, but I applied to pharmacy school since it was only 4 years after undergrad and you don't have to do a residency if you don't want to. Now that I'm not in my teens, I realized that it's where you end up, not where you start...so I'm just looking at these 3 years in Nac as a break from school. Haha. Most likely I'll be the only Asian guy there, so I don't think you'll have a problem spotting me. I think I'm going to either live at Whisper Oaks or University Hills.
I'm in and out of Nac usually a few times a year. I still have a lot of friends there and my sister is there too.
I'll most likely be in town. This is my home now till i graduate now that I'm back in school. I'll be in Argentina in July / August to snowboard etc. but over all, just working (EMS)....and attending school. You should look into University Hills as soon as you can if that's where you want to live. I tried to get a spot there last year, but they were booked up till like november which was too late for me so I chose sunridge over the Colony in Lufkin. I miss places like Buffalo Wild Wings etc. Great places to watch sports. haven't tried Bull frogs or sportshack (same place?) yet.
Never heard of it. EDIT: I googled it, sounds like a good place. Going to have to give it a try. We've (my gf and I) haven't been to Union Cafe yet either.....and there are some good reviews online. http://www.yelp.com/biz/flashback-cafe-nacogdoches#hrid:KSVWWopo_JcrUimCwFVaiw
Yea its right next to the school on wettermark right off north st. On certain days they have like 25 cent wings or something like that. I havent been there in a while so i forgot which days it was.
Do they have any bars that put Rockets games on? We should definitely have a clutchfans get together.
My planned date to move-in is May 18th, so I guess I better give them a call soon. Hopefully all the college kids will be gone by then and there would be a lot units open.
I believe we went by searching around looking for a place around May/early june to move in by end of July. we had no luck there, or another really nice place near the Grove. (Can't remember it's name but looked brand new). Sun Ridge has been ok. Not the nicest of places, older buildings though they have remodeled a number of them, so I guess they have nicer insides. People are cool. I have 3 dogs...and they know, but don't care. I paid my deposit on my first one. (who became pregnant)... THankgod all that's over now though. Made me feel redneck having puppies around.
I was wondering why there were so many emergency vehicle sirens last night. An SFA student was murdered during an attempted robbery. And a mother of 2 kids was shot in the neck. http://www.dailysentinel.com/hp/content/news/stories/2009/03/12/shootings_031309.html Killing at apartments began as armed robbery, police say By MATTHEW STOFF The Daily Sentinel Thursday, March 12, 2009 Police released some details Thursday morning of two grisly homicides that occurred within three hours of each other in Nacogdoches Wednesday night. One man was killed and three others wounded during a burglary at Cambridge Court apartments. Three people have been arrested and charged with capital murder in that case. Police Sgt. Greg Sowell briefed the press Thursday morning about two separate homicides that occurred within hours of each other in Nacogdoches Wednesday night. In a separate incident on Kings Row Drive, a woman, Melissa Barnhill, was shot through a window in her home, struck in the neck and died as she cooked dinner for her two young children. No arrests have been made in that case, and the killer is still at-large, police said. After a night of interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence from two separate crime scenes and other locations around town, police held a news conference to share "cleared information," stressing that both homicides are still under investigation and many details would not be made public. The violence at Cambridge Court apartments apparently began about 7:44 p.m. when three men knocked on the door of an apartment occupied by two other men and asked to use the telephone. Once inside, one of the three visitors pulled a gun as the others began taking property. During the robbery, one of the victims, Charles Justin Frazar, 22, found a large knife and attacked the robbers, cutting two of them severely. The attacker with the gun fired shots at Frazar, striking him three times in the chest. Frazar was still able to wrestle the gun from his attacker and shoot at another suspect, striking him once. The attackers, who police have been identified as Okeiron Bowswer, 20, of Nacogdoches, Marlon H. Randle, 27, of Nacogdoches, and Marsh Guenn Odom, II, 21, of Center, fled the scene in a vehicle and drove to a local hospital. Frazar stumbled into the parking lot and was later transported to the hospital where he died. As of Thursday morning, Bowser was being treated in a Tyler hospital for cuts and stab wounds. Randle was being treated at a Nacogdoches hospital for cuts and a gunshot wound. Odom suffered only slight injuries and is currently in police custody. All three have been charged with capital murder. Police were not certain of the relationship between the attackers and the two people in the apartment. "As far as we know they may have been slight acquaintances, but as far as knowing each other very well, they did not," Lt. Greg Johnson said. Residents of the Cambridge Court apartment complex Wednesday night said the two men who were attacked were brothers, but police would not confirm the relationship on Thursday. "There were two people in the apartment; their relationship is not being released," Sowell said. Police also said a knife and firearm have been recovered, but would not provide details about the size or type. More information on both homicides would be forthcoming as it became available, police indicated. -------- Dude was only 22. Robbers/murders:
Wow, thats crazy. I've had some of the most fun at Cambridge Courts when I was at SFA. I guess thats why they call the locals "Nac Rats".
