Fair enough. There are movies with good 3D and others with bad 3D and you never know until you see them yourself. To me, any movie that is more visually appealing than the plot like Avatar or something like Tron warrants seeing it in 3D in theaters.

You can go enjoy your Tree of Life movie over there. I don't go into those threads and spew "artsy fartsy indie films are for pretentious douche bags who claim cultural superiority over others because they're outcasts who aren't understood by the rest of society."

Take it for what it is: a summer action movie with giant robots from outer space shooting at each other and explosions that go boom. And a hot girl.

This movie was absolutely terrible and boring to watch. The special effects were good and all but I wanted an interesting plot. I think the script is worse than Transformers 2. Very deserving of it's 30% rotten tomatoes rating, the critics nailed this one.

Did I hurt your vagina? I didn't know this thread is for only Michael Bay loving fest and no hating is allowed.

    Ummm two things....

    1) You do realize you were heading into an action movie...usually action movies and good script don't belong in the same sentence.

    2) The second film had a fembot that seduced Sam, Megan Fox straddling a bike painting upside down, blatant stereotypes, a mess of a giant transformer that had hanging balls, a journey to find the matrix of leadership which as it turns out was in the same place the Holy Grail was, double the screen time of the parents, etc.

I did find it rather interesting that the NEST soldiers went to Chernobyl and pretty much went straight into the reactor room and yet weren't somehow dead or dying by the end of the film. It's ok though because they had oxygen masks and radiation meters!

I can't understand why anyone would say this movie was worse than the second other than to think they've been waiting two years to say that no matter what TF3 was actually like.

    Agreed.

This movie was much better than the crap heap that was 2. 2 was insulting to watch.

It sucked. Definitely better than 2. Can't say whether it's better than 1.

The only good thing is it finished Michael Bay's run (I think?). It just further reinforced how much I can't wait for someone to reboot the movies in a decent manner. Make it about robots, and make them actually discernible as robots. And don't pander to the most inane movie cliches of all time.

And yes, I'm using the same standards as other summer popcorn flicks. F*** this movie.

I am somewhat in the minority that enjoyed this film and felt it was the best of the 3 despite its flaws, but I do agree that hopefully some other director takes over from Bay and makes it more about the actual transformers than the humans.

Hopefully in a few years the technology will be a lot cheaper to make a movie that focuses mainly on the transformers themselves. Maybe do a complete reboot and have it follow the story from the comics/show and start with the battle on cybertron and the Ark escaping and crashing on earth.

not going to hold my breath on it though

Another plot hole I noticed. Correct me if I'm wrong:
If the real Earth resource the Decepticons were after was 6 billion human slaves, why did they start killing them immediately?

BTW, where do you recommend jumping into the comic books? Just a brief google shows there's quite a few publishers, not to mention series. It looks like IDW might be the best place to start?

The Marvel series from the 80's by Simon Furman is usually considered the best place to start.

as GRENDAL said the marvel series is the best place it has 80 issues in it.

I've just downloaded the Marvel UK series which is supposed to be better and thats over 200 issues long...I've read about the first 30 issues of the UK version so far and it is the same as the US version but I expect it to diverge soon enough once start approaching issue #70 or so if not sooner.

but emjohn may not like the comics, laserbeak, buzzsaw and ravage all speak in the comics -- especially ravage

    This movie sucked.

Watching Transformers right after Super 8 amplified the crap that this movie produces...

    SPOILER:
And what's the deal with not recognizing the importance of Ironhide? He got shot down and only got a 5 second death sequence in return. No mention of him after that at all...

I really hate how they turned Sam's parents into a couple of incompetent morons. All just for comedic effect. I know they weren't the brightest bunch to begin with; but ******* its like they two completely different people now.

Not to mention why is there a five minute romance scene between Sam and [insert chick here] during the beginning of every Transformers film? Unnecessary.

Oh yeah, and the action was completely anti-climatic. Megatron got destroyed by a one-armed Optimus? HAHA, yeah right.

Do not waste your money on this crap if you expect to see a good movie. If you're bored and have ABSOLUTELY nothing else to do. Go right ahead.

I wanted to enjoy this movie, but I didn't.

I still think the best transformers movie was this one:

Haha, touche - that did actually annoy me!

I'd differ and say the Furman IDW run is the best. The 80s comics were kind of a mess - they were a Hasbro commercial constantly introducing new toys and forgetting about the original ones. Killed Prime and Megatron way too quick and never seemed to be going anywhere concrete with the series. King Grimlock versus Blaster/Goldbug was pretty good stuff though.

When Furman kicked off the IDW series, it was as if he got to take the 80s run and even the Dreamwave stuff, pile it together, rethink it, and bring it all together.

QFT. i too can't wait for someone to take over this franchise and hopefully prove that it's been successful in spite of, and not because of, michael bay. better transformer designs and not trying to be a comedy would be a great first step.

I hated those little midget comedy relief transformers living in Shia's place.

I liked it when the funny transformer was Grimlock.
