Saw it last night and thought it was OK. I didn't get why they did some of the things they did, seemed pointless. And, I just didn't like the fight scenes all that much with the camera work and the ultra-quick edits. I could never see what the hell was happening a lot of times. I like the mindless action films as much as the next guy (A-Team), but this one didn't do enough for me. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars just for the "theater experience". I liked Scott Pilgrim vs. the World much better. But, that's just me.
Simply amazing! Great action and very violent. If anyone doesn't like it then you shouldn't have seen it anyway. Its exactly what I expected but better. Pretty much an 80s action movie but new. This isn't the kind of movie you judge on story or acting. You go in pretty much knowing exactly what you're gonna get from each character if you know action movies. Dolph was creepier than ever.
I'm happy that a rated R action movie got number 1 which means the boneheads at Hollywood will now follow a trend to make more action/martial arts movie... Although I didn't enjoy it as much as I should I still have mad respect for Sly!!!
Pretty much exactly what Stallone was shooting for, watch any 80's action film and it's very similar, lots of action illogical story and very little on the character side. I thought it was pretty solid for what it was.
Saw this today. I consider the movie expendable. I had a hard time looking at Stallone's face. I'm a big Statham fan. I think he's a lot better than the movies he's often in.
An old school movie with bad ass action heroes. I didn't expect a deep story but I expected brawling and explosions and guess what...the best action movie of the year!..for know
This seems like the right time for Anthony Lane's take from the New Yorker. His opening salvo: "Where is Jean-Claude Van Damme? If I go to see a movie called “The Expendables,” which already features Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, I expect a place to be found, amid this noble array of thinkers, for the cuboid Belgian. Or how about that vast, immovable block of dough, with two tiny currants for eyes embedded near the top, that goes by the name of Steven Seagal? Maybe they read the script." Lulz.
Definitely agree. The Transporter movies were marginal at best. And I didn't care much for Crank. The best movie he's been in was probably Italian Job, and he wasn't the star. Talent somewhat wasted I think.
Damn. My post should be "for now" and not "for know  ". My bad. That was just embarrassing This movie is pretty good. I'm impressed
Very entertaining movie to say the least. Don't go in thinking you're going to get a great plot or oscar-worthy acting, enjoy the action and you'll likely enjoy the movie.
Took the wife for an afternoon matinee and lunch at the tavern yesterday. An outstanding hour and a half in the middle of a work day! The only thing that bothered me was Bruce, Arnie and Sylvester was NOT in the same room. If someone can correct me, please do. What I want to see more: Stallone and Statham in another movie. Really enjoyed their chemistry.
