i liked that it didn't have any gadgets and bond actually uses his brain. it got to the point in the series that bond coulda just been anyone. if he was stuck in a situation, he'd just pull out a gadget and be out of it in a jiffy. the new bond is smart and he sees all the angles and shortcuts. a great way to reboot the series like batman begins.
Yeah, I didn't think they could pull it off. Fortunately, they changed the style of the movie. As for your spoiler... Spoiler I couldn't help laughing at the scene where he types his resignation. It didn't seem like a Bond thing to do. They had a lot of license in this "first movie" that they couldn't do in other Bonds.
Yeah well the main thing I got from this movie was that it was a movie about how ... Spoiler James Bond became "Bond, James Bond"
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally find someone has the same opinion. I am a huge 007 fan too but Brosnan's bond movies, except Golden Eyes, are unwatchable. On the other side, Timothy Dalton's two movies are very solid and entertaining. I don't understand why so many ppl don't like him. As for this movie, I recommend everyone to see it. Hands down the best Bond movie in 10 years. Bond is finally a human again. I enjoyed watching this movie and hope you guys do too.
Timothy Dalton is very underrated. And Brosnan, definitely overrated. He was a good Bond to be sure, but there really wasn't any depth to his character and his movies got more and more absurd and tiring.
Btw, some fan has just renamed himself to all James Bond film titles... So this British lad, instead of being David Fearn, is now James Dr No From Russia With Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice On Her Majesty's Secret Service Diamonds Are Forever Live And Let Die The Man With The Golden Gun The Spy Who Loved Me Moonraker For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View To A Kill The Living Daylights Licence To Kill Golden Eye Tomorrow Never Dies The World Is Not Enough Die Another Day Casino Royale Bond. Talking about being crazy... http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2081355.html?menu=
Just came back from the movie. Best Bond movie I've seen. Just awesome, I'm looking forward to the next one.
The opening song was Hooooooorible. Usually theaters are really loud by at my Tinstletown the opening song was barley audible. Maybe it would have been better LOUD.
It was a joke, sweetheart. Oh, and your link is to a quote from the movie Finding Forrester. Since when was that bad?
i was joking too. perhaps i should have included one of these or these or these or these i never saw finding forrester, but hearing sean connery speak ebonics was enough to keep me away.
got back from seeing this at the first colony theater. i first caught on to the bonds flicks with pierce bronsan (sp?), so i don't know that much about connery's 007. however, this film kicked arse. yea... kicked arse, phocking rocked, schit rooled, whatever... iroc it, i welcome your ignore list... since you don't like my spelling of curse words to cater to the teens. it's pretty easy bro... user cp> buddy/ignore list>ignore list>omegasupreme. i've done the work for you... so... there ya go! least i could do after you posting your wannabe undercover sarcastic responses to my posts/starts of a thread. craig has that "the professional" look like jean reno... that cold blooded killer look instead of the "i'm going to time how long it takes you to die with my rolex after stabbing you in the pancreas" look. like i say, i've only seen pierce, so i judge craig by him. craig is quicker, more heady, more brutal, more violent, and a little bit more less ("little bit more less"... cool!) clean than pierce... and it works... works like a champ. Spoiler i remember someone posting a free running thread a while back ago. good to see that in the opening action sequence. this movie almost has that "traffic" type of grittiness. cool. i think i'm going to buy that 007 special edition thingee to catch up after so many speak of bronsan's suckiness.
Just got back from the flick, and absolutely loved it. It might be about 20 minutes too long, but so what. The best Bond since Sean Connery, and I can't think of higher praise. Reminded me of what I consider the finest Bond movie, From Russia with Love. Do yourself a favor, and see it.
When I first saw this I thought you wrote: Anyway looking forward to seeing the movie. To ramble some more though the first James Bond I remember was Roger Moore so somehow I've always thought of Bond as being kinda campy and funny, getting it on with 5-6 hot women and fighting Jaws. The darker Bond will take some getting used to.
I loved it, it lived up to the hype. I do agree that the movie could have been a few minutes shorter. The only thing that bugged me was that Eva Green, while smoking, was kind of hard to understand at times. I think it's because she was trying to do a British accent.
Saw it last night.. really enjoyed it. Not a single dull moment really, and that's tough to do over a relatively long movie without becoming stupid usually. Spoiler The drowning scene was interesting--I can't remember ever seeing a drowning death that wasn't panned away from.. at least not one that looked that real. Pretty incredible job of capturing that. Though kinda jacked up, but whatever Spoiler I was sitting next to some idiots. During every poker scene, the guy would start laughing incredulously whenever the guy would start talking about the game. But it wasn't laughing at how it was kinda funny cause he was being dumb.. it was more of a "Man, I know so much about poker that this is STUPID" laugh. On top of that, the guy next to me would be telling his friend about what possible hands were on the table, or what he thought Bond was holding..CONSTANTLY. He thought he knew so much about poker. And he was mostly wrong when he'd say things like "Bond has the nuts" or whatever. Just irritating! Ok, I'm done
