All of a sudden without adding any new programs or anything I cannot click my hyper links in my e-mail or drag any files in Explorer or drag and move icons on my desktop. I use Win95 and Outlook Express 5.0 Tried a new mouse but it did not make any difference. Man at Best Buy in the Computer repair said I would probably have to wipe computer clean and reinstall everything, I do not want to do that. Does anybody know anything that might help or where to go on the internet to get help? Would appreciate help! Thanks ------------------ One minute ago you had 60 seconds longer to live then you have now. Did you enjoy the 60 seconds you just had?
Rockets Pimp I have the very orginal purchased on the day of win95 introduction. DC I have kept it update regularly at windows update. Jaun V No Chance came from a DR. a few years ago when I was diagnose with stomach cancer. He was wrong! Rocket Pimp would it be easier to install a new version of windows ME then to reinstall win95 and all of those updates? ------------------ One minute ago you had 60 seconds longer to live then you have now. Reinstalling Windows probably will do more damage then good. Many of your old programs will not work since your registry will get wiped. I can't say I've ever heard of anything like this happening. Without actually having access to your machine any responses I give you would be nothing more than a crapshoot at best. ------------------ I got nothin'.
One more thing : Are you saying your mouse does not move at all or it moves, but you can't drag & drop, etc.? Can you click the Start button, does that work? When you right-click your desktop, does the pop-up menu appear? ------------------ I got nothin'.
DR of Dunk the mouse moves all the time it clicks left and right okay. You just cannot click on anything and drag it, and it won't bring up a hyperlink in my Outlook Express and I just found out it won't bring up any of these links in this forum like dealcatcher.com . It also won't let me click on any of the e-mail links in this forum. I tried to click on Rocket Pimps e-mail and it won't work! Makes me want to chew nails . ------------------ One minute ago you had 60 seconds longer to live then you have now. Did you enjoy the 60 seconds you just had?
Your namesake has jinxed you: you're beyond help. On the other hand, by moving this thread back to the top, maybe someone who knows something will decide to help you. Good luck! ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
Why don't you just reinstall Windows without wiping your HD? ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, but it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and pimp-slap the mother****** upside the head!
Have you tried using the built in help menus? You can access them off of the "Start" menu. I've also found the Windows Update utility to be very helpful. Whenever I start having some kind of glitch, I'll run it, usually find a critical update, and the problem goes away. They actually recognize that there are going to be bugs and necessary upgrades, so this utility compares your software versions against the list, and makes recommendations. It is free, and they say that it doesn't send any information about your computer to Microsoft. I know they had an update to Outlook Express a few months ago, and just released Windows Explorer 5.5, so your problems could be solved with these upgrades. They also provide critical and recommended updates, which will provide a fix for known problems. They also add in other potentially useful and interesting stuff, like skins, screen savers, and alternate languages (dozens of these). If you want your computer to speak to you in Romanian or Swiss, you can get the update. Click on the "start" menu, and select "Window's Update" near the top. One warning, if you haven't run it before, it will probably provide you with a lot of updates, some of which must be installed separately. Be prepared to do a lot of re-starting. FYI -- For you and anyone else, they just upgraded Windows Media Player, and it is very cool. The sound is much better, it has built in equalizer controls, and it comes with some cool looking "skins." It will automatically compile a list of all available media files on your computer, and even enables you to sort MP3 files by title, artist, album, or even genre. ------------------ Stay Cool...
