The Crue is coming out with an autobiography later this month. It's called The Dirt : Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band. Here is an excerpt: "The bedroom Tommy and I shared was to the left of the hallway, full of empty bottles and dirty clothes. We each slept on a mattress on the floor draped with one formerly white sheet that had turned the color of squashed roach. But we thought we were pretty suave because we had a mirrored door on our closet. One night, David Lee Roth came over and was sitting on the floor with a big pile of blow, keeping it all to himself as usual, when the door fell off the hinges and cracked across the back of his head. Dave halted his monologue for a half-second and then continued. He didn't lose a single flake of his drugs. " --Vince Neil recalling the early days, 1981 Here's a cool quote, also from Vince: "We lived in that pigsty as long as a child stays in the womb before scattering to move in with girls we had met. The whole time we lived there, all we wanted was a record deal. But all we ended up with was booze, drugs, chicks, squalor and court orders. That place gave birth to Mötley Crüe, and like a pack of mad dogs, we abandoned the b****, leaving with enough reckless, aggravated testosterone to spawn a million b*stard embryo metal bands. "
I read an article interviewing Dave Mustaine in the latest Guitar World (or some such mag), and in it he had some disparaging remarks for the Crue. He said that on their last tour, when they toured with Motley Crue and Anthrax, the ticket sales were crap, and they weren't making money. They weren't pulling anything in, so Motley Crue decided to send Anthrax home. Dave was pissed off because they claimed that it was because the fans wanted to see Motley Crue play a longer set, but he said that in not one show did Crue or Megadeth play a longer set, and that it was all about money. He suggested that maybe Vince Neil should have sent the damn strippers packing instead of the opening band. It was pretty funny stuff, but I have lost all my respect for Motley Crue (not that I had that much to begin with). ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. So Freak is this a book, a video documentary or what? When will it be released? ------------------ "I have no regrets except that I wasn't up to keep Randy from getting on that plane." --Ozzy Osbourne on guitarist Randy Rhodes
RunningRaven, you've lost all respect for Motley Crue? I didn't realize anybody had any respect for the Crue. They were probably the most wild band in Rock history with the girls, drugs, and fights. When did respect ever become a word associated with the Crue? I am going to read this auto-biography because those guys are gonna have the best stories about the forementioned subjects of any band around and it makes for a laughable read. Sorry...but your respect statement made me laugh out loud. The Crue could give a rat's ass about anyone respecting them back in the day. They were the bad boys living it up. It's not like their Christian rockers wanting to make a respectful living with music. Surf ------------------
I understand all of that Surfguy, but I still had a slight amount of respect for them since I actually liked their music. But now even that is gone as they screwed over a great band that is trying to break through into popularity (Anthrax). Anthrax deserves to be much more popular than they are. And as far as them not caring if I respected them, that's fine. I don't respect bands because I think that they care, I respect bands based on what they have done. It is just my way of rating bands I enjoy. I doubt there are many bands at all who genuinly care whether I respect them or not. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. Lynus -- it's a book, 400 pages or so I think. It's coming out later this month. Amazon already has it listed for pre-order, as do I'm sure other sites. RR -- Mustaine has a new album out and is trying to sell records. He'll likely say many more stupid things in the coming months, at least until the album flops again and we hopefully won't have to hear from him for a while. Having said that, I wouldn't say that his story was false. The fact is though, that the tour not doing well had as much to do with Megadeth as it had to do with the Crue. The year before, Motley went out on the road with the Scorpions and it was very successful. It was a Motley/Megadeth tour, and bad ticket sales reflects poorly on Megadeth as well. Second, nobody was there to see Anthrax. They were coming on at 7pm and playing to barely anyone. I have no problem with them being kicked off, but I could do without the lying about it. The objective of a tour is to make money, though, so why would you want to tell everyone you kicked off one of the bands because you weren't making enough to pay them? Lastly, why would you send home your pyro and dancers when that is a big part of your show? People are paying that money to be entertained, and that is a big part of going to a Motley Crue show. At least they gave Anthrax a shot -- I don't see bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, etc. taking Anthrax out on the road.
I just picked this one up. I got it yesterday and I'm already nearly half way through it. Great read, and funny as hell. I can't wait for Ozzy to write a book. ------------------ "I have no regrets except that I wasn't up to keep Randy from getting on that plane." --Ozzy Osbourne on guitarist Randy Rhodes

Did anyone see that interview (on CNBC or something) with Vince, Nikki and that brunette?? First of all Vince is a freakin' fat ass! On top of that, he is really dumb....He said "To this day I still dont know how to write a check." What a moron....
Oh no man, don't you see, doin' drugs and havin' sex with thousands upon thousands of women, men, and who knows what else is cool man. ------------------ www.swirve.com "Pre-born, you're fine, pre-school, you're f*****."-George Carlin
What on earth are Motley Crue and Megadeth doing touring together in the first place? The don't really fit together. Megadeth and Anthrax fit better in my estimation. I haven't really listened to Motley Crue since about 1985, or anything from Megadeth or Anthrax since about 1987 or 1988. If each band is still anything like they were then, a Motley Crue/Megadeth show would be drawing only a few people who like both bands. ------------------ The sky is falling!
