Everyone that is not stupid questions Mo's motivation. And this motivation should be questioned. All i wonder is that how bringing MO in could hurt KT's motivation. He had a great first year, and was hoping to come in and be the starter. Now he is on the bench. I know he will get minutes, but are these minutes the one that he deserves. I say let KT start and let MO work his way into the starting lineup. I dont question Mo's talent only his MO'tivation. ------------------ The KT police: Rule 1:dont diss on KT' Rule 2ont talk of Trading KT. Rule 3: Do not compare KT with owls!!!!!
So he'll demand a trade 3 games into the season? Mo came here to showcase, everyone knows he can score, he wants to show how much more he can score...... ------------------
We didnt sign him to showcase him. We signed him for him to play and play hard. Not only score. Most of the players in this league with max contracts do more than just score. ------------------ The KT police: Rule 1:dont diss on KT' Rule 2ont talk of Trading KT. Rule 3: Do not compare KT with owls!!!!!
KT was not expecting to even play last year, much less start. He knows it, we know it, and the American people know it. The injuries that plagued us last year opened up a door for KT. He is still in a good situation backing up Taylor. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
What KT is expecting is a paycheck. Beyond that he should have no expectations. He is to come in and do whatever is asked of him, and if he doesn't, then he can join T-HAM. Rudy is very good at working with big ego's and should have no problem keeping everyone happy. Maurice did not come here, nor we bring him here, to ride the pine. Let's remember that we cannot judge Maurice based on his actions with the Clip's. We MUST give him the same opportunity that we give all players that come to the Rockets as FA's for less money than they deserved. We gave Shandon alot of slack and we dug deep to look at all of his contributions to the team, not just his PPG. Suggesting that Maurice come off the bench is silly. He is by far the more proven player between the two (KT & MO). ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
There is no need to question Taylor's motivation. He made it clear that he signed a one year deal for the purpose of trying to play his way into a bigger contract. The Rockets get a one year try-out for the price of the mid level exception. Personally I appreciate the fact that he was honest about it. The Rockets can either sign him next year or let him go. It's no risk as far as the money is concerned. There is also the outside chance that he will like the Rockets so much that he will take less to re-sign. (Highly unlikely with Falk as his agent though.) Either way the Rockets get a one year test drive to find out whether Taylor helps or hurt the rebuilding process. Not bad if you ask me. ------------------
If KT can't play at the same level coming off the bench, he doesn't need to play and becomes expendable. In any case we know Rudy is going to play the guy that is giving him the most for his minutes. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
Do we really KNOW that Rudy is going to give the minutes to the best player? I mean, he constantly ran Hakeem and Walt out there last year when it was clear they were not helping. Loyalty is great, but it can also be a fault. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
Stop worrying about KT's minutes. If anything, you should be worried about how we are going to unload Carlos Rogers - he is the one that is really going to suffer here. ------------------ Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
Mo would have to play pretty bad and Thomas is going to have to be an animal on the boards for Rudy to even get the slightest inclination about even switching the roles. Don't forget , this is Kenny Thomas we're talking about. Though I know he is still relatively young and there is always room for improvement, can this guy actually start on a contending championship team? He can come off the bench and give us some quality minutes and even be a sparkplug for us. I see more promise in Mo as a solid starter who has the potential to be a very special player. He is only 23..
RocketSauce what u say about KT can be used for Mo' he should expect nothing but a paycheck hell . . . I guess Bull should start he is *proven* Rocket River ------------------
Exactly how much do you think Mo deserved to sign for this year? Mango ------------------ 1. Put new topics in the proper forum. Things happening in the rest of the NBA 2. I don't think Rudy ran Hakeem out there because of loyalty and he sure didn't play Walt out of loyalty. He wanted Hakeem to find his wind and get back into the flow of the game. Once it became clear Hakeem has a medical condition, Hakeem didn't play. Walt got his minutes for the same reason. He needed to get used to playing with his teammates and the only way to do that is time. The time paid off towards the end of the season. Let's hope it laps over into this season! ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
All of you guys are talking about how MO will kill KT's motivation but I sees it differently. The addition of Mo will only motivate Kenny more, in order to push himself for the starting place. The pleasure of starting the game will only push Kenny forward. Last year he was an automatic first choice but this year it is totally different. He has to PERFORM if he is to start with Mo coming to H-town. As for Mo, I think the chances of winning of for a change will motivate him. ------------------ Hack a Shaq you'll be winning Hack-him you'll be dreaming.
I agree with JJANG. Mo will start and Kenny knows that. Kenny also knows that he's not going to get significant minutes unless he shows that he's worthy of those minutes. I think this (acquisition of Taylor) will actually motivate Kenny to play harder than he did last season. Many here have complained that KT has a bad work ethic, is lazy, gives no effort, etc. I don't agree, but I think you'll see a different KT this season - one that knows that since he is the second option, he has to give 100% all the time if he wants to increase his relatively puny paycheck... ------------------
This is ridiculous. You want to alienate one of our best players to preserve the motivation of one without nearly the same level of talent? Mo said he wanted to win games. Great, but we *know* he wants a fat paycheck next year. Besides, as previously mentioned, the KT thing works both ways... he might want to prove himself with Mo starting. Besides, Mo would have to be one lazy Mo Fo for him to play worse than KT. Mo starts. Mo averages at least 15 pts. Kenny starts, we're lucky if he gets 12. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
haven - Oh, no, no, nonono... Mo has the starting minutes, the bigger minutes, bigger role, all that - no argument there. Just saying that Kenny might play a litter harder knowing that his future is less certain than it was a few weeks ago. ------------------
Does anyone here SERIOUSLY think Kenny should start over Taylor, or are u just joking? If Mo even senses that he won't be starting, he'll start b****in' again and with good reason this time........ ------------------
Mango, Mo turned down $5mil/season from Toronto. This doesn't mean we should be happpy with sub-par play. My point is that he chose the Rockets, and for that we owe him a chance to prove himself. Falk may be the Devil but Feagan (Shandon's agent) carries a pretty big pitchfork too. We all gave Shandon a chance to learn the system, and I think we should do the same for Maurice. ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
