Who do you think is the most valuable player to their team. A player that the team could not do without.

Most valuable to their teams would be either Garnett, Shaq, or Malone. While Garnett and Shaq are the more obvious choices, Malone may be the most valuable of the three. The Jazz would be little to nothing without Malone. Everything they run goes through him.

I hate to be cliche, but "Me, Myself and I"verson must be a serious consideration. Philly has some nice role players on that team, but The Answer means a heck of a lot to that team.

Mourning and Payton would be up their on my list as well. And mark my words, in 12 months time, not only us, but NBA fans around the globe will be mentioning Steve Francis in the same breath as these great players.

Excuse me!!!! Karl Malone?? The most valuable player in their team. If you are talking about the most valuable player in the Jazz team, it must be John Stockton who makes everyone around him better. Karl Malone sucks. He's nothing. He's a mediocre power forward without Stockton.

I has to be Shaq. Have you seen the rest of that team?

They have seven players who shot under .400

Without out Kobe and Shaq no one on that team averages 5.0 rebounds.

Shaq was second on the team in assists.

The Lakers biggest weak spot is their power forward position, and if you take away their starting center, they have the weakest frontcourt in the NBA.

Karl Malone is the best PF in the history of basketball. While Stockton has been a valuable player, saying that the difference between him being the greatest player in the history of his position to "sucking" because of one player is flat out ridiculous.

Okay, let me preface this by saying I hate Karl Malone. He is arrogant, rude(I met him during undergrad, when I waited on tables), and just plain stupid (e.g. remember the comments about Magic, when he first tested HIV-positive).

With that said, Malone was clearly a superior player than Barkley. You are right about Barkley being a better rebounder, but the Chuckster has never had the work ethic of Malone, nor has he ever been even half the defender Malone was.

Barkley also wasn't a very good team player through most of his career (though he was in the last couple of years in Phoenix and Houston). Malone, however, has been a great team player on both sides of the floor (he had to do a whole lot of those moving picks for the refs to get tired of calling them [IMG] ).

Malone is a thug, a punk, and a general @$$, but the man could play the game. Maybe if Barkley worked out as hard as Malone did, or maybe if Barkley focused a little on D, or maybe if Barkely was just another 4-5 inches taller . . .

As much as I hate Malone, his antics, and sometimes how he plays the game, for anyone to say he's a mediocre PF without Stockton is just flat out wrong. The guy has talent with or without Stockton. Stockton may have made him better, but even without Stockton, he'd still be one of the 3-5 greatest PF's ever to play (instead of the 1 or 2 best).

If Barkley had the work ethic of Malone or Jordan he would be considered maybe the top five player of all time. Charles was bad ass (my second favorite player of all time) but he let alot of his talent and potential go to waste. If he had reported in shape every year, Im sure he would have won a championship or two.

    Keith Closs.

The Clippers couldn't suck so bad without him!

Actually I would have to say Jason Kidd. He does so much for Phoenix that I think they would be a .500 team at best without him.

Malone has not missed many games in his career because he works really hard on conditioning/staying in shape.

I would say: Malone, Duncan, Garnett and most of all Shaq.

The Lakers are nothing without Shaq.

Elvin Hayes was one of the best PF if not the best.
