H: Rick finished 2nd to Coach of the Year.

DM: Finished 2nd like 20 times, but he doesn't want it because those coaches get fired.

    lol...funny

Kinda like how Aaron Brooks got his chance after being 4th on the depth chart? For real, lets DO thank Mike James, Steve Francis and Brent Barry for sucking.

Artest wasn't acquired for his defense, he was brought in to be the third scoring option behind Yao and Tmac, his "defense" was just a cherry on top. There is nothing wrong about having two defensive stoppers, but there is a problem when both of those defensive stoppers are offensively limited and play the same exact position, especially when both of them should play big minutes. Why keep a redundant Battier when he can be used to bring in some players we need, such as a center or scoring wing. If we are rebuilding, I rather give more minutes to our younger players, rather then our super role player who will support no stars.

I don't have a problem with Battier being here next year, but he is one of our more attractive trade pieces and if he could be used to bring in a player that will help us long term, then he should be traded.

Aaron Brooks was 4th on the depth chart?? When was Steve Francis ever healthy for him to be ahead of Brooks?

Lets see last time I remembered during training camp Francis or James couldn't beat out Rafer for the starting spot. Ok it happens its the NBA. You would assume that either James or Francis is going to be the back up point guard. Hmmmm Aaron Brooks was.

The most attractive trade pieces we have right now I would think is McGrady and Brian Cook. The Rockets said they brought in Ariza because they want to use him offensively or something like that. Ariza is a slasher. Battier is a corner guy and stay type of player. They do not have the same game.

WTF? Do you guys ever read the whole thing before making assumptions? Or do you just look for stuff that you can twist and make a rumor out of?

Thanks to the subtle hints by Morey, it appears to me that both McGrady and Battier will NOT be traded at any point this season. Hurray! While everyone has already given up on this season, how awesome would it be to have everyone back reasonably good to go when it matters to most this year? I know the chances don't look good for this at all, but I won't give up!

It would be fine, except somebody's gotta go because we don't have a CENTER!

And they probably have to trade for one...so somebody's going...

I think you read into what Morey said TOO much...

Battier's probably gone when the right offer comes. Did you not see the Brooks + Battier offer for Rubio?

I think Morey's just saying on National media how much Battier is so valuable so such a leader etc etc so as to not look as if we're desperately trying to get rid of them in trades but as a piece we still covet loads to drive up trade offers that comes up for Battier...

if Morey said...oh Battier's not in our long term plans...as with the Boozer gossip...then obv people are gonna lowball Morey for Battier as we're doing a salary dump...

    Good interview by Morey

Most attractive McGrady and Brian Cook???

    Think again.

Personally I think its Brooks and Battier, esp Brooks.

McGrady's is a dead corpse to most teams right now. Bad teams won't give up the season right now before it has even started to unload talent for McGrady's contract. And good teams want nothing of McGrady.

Maybe in Feb Tmac and Cook's value will be sky high...but by then I don't think we'll trade them as we're rebuilding too. And we NEED those expiring contracts.

Nobody will make the team from the summer league. Jobs will be won at training camp. They can however use a strong summer league to get an invitation to camp.

um I don't know if you're talking about the Rockets team or something...but contracts ARE won just straight from summer league. last year Bobby Brown was playing for the New Orleans in the summer league(he outplayed Conley and other first round talent) and got a 2 year contract from the Kings. simple as that.

doubt Morey is gonna do that though.

I never said he was the most attractive piece, just one of them. Ariza and Battier are players that are known for their defense on wing players, their primary job will be to defend the other teams best wing player. They might not have the same game offensively, but they have the same role and score very little points, that's what I meant by Battier being redundant.

I actually didn't read it since I heard most of Morey's interview, but I missed the part of him saying Scola and Shane will be the leaders next year. However, I still think Shane should be shipped out if he can net us a player that will help us long term. It doesn't make much sense to keep two offensively challenged wing defenders.

I said McGrady and Cook because of their expiring contract. Teams will call the Rockets and offer because of their expiring contracts. Sort of like what the Pistons did with Iverson. They didn't lose anything really out of that also. Basically it was Iverson for Ben Gordan and Charlie V.

Teams are probably going to call in about McGrady because he would probably help a contender get over the hump. If not oh well then they have his large contract to use for themselves. Thats why I've always said that if McGrady is traded it would be dumb on Morey's part.

Well the guy I thought Morey should have gone after was Redd because he could have been perfect in Adelman's system and TMAC's contract could have snatched him along with one of there big men BUT now he will probably be going to Dallas for there Championship push so I say WHO IS OUT THERE? I think Morey is going to take the Lottery apporach which I am cool with just the reality of a lost season is kicking in!
